I saw pics of this castle a couple years ago, its a great looking fantasy style castle.
I doubt its the biggest though.

These Legoland castles are probably much bigger:

I have found quite a large castle, with a large army too.

maybe that's the way i should go:

I had intended to post this myself, looks like you beat me to it, if you think that castle is big than look at the cathedral and town. Combine that with the castle and this desplay is huge. Is there something wrong with my computer, or is the audio tour gone? :?

Dave O'Hare, AggieSava, Carney, and myself have rather large castles, forts, and citadels...

You can find them all on BrickShelf.com.

Wow. Im suprised ive seen this castle (before). I think It was in a 1998 lego magzine. This was one of the first inspirations i ever had for building castle legos even though i was only 7 at the time.

Big Castles

Post by DaveOhare01 »

Howdy all!

It's always nice to see one oy projects mentioned.

I love to build big -- but the truth is, I just build a lot (a LOT) of rooms and then small scenes in them. So, regardless of how big or small you like to build, it's the detail that counts!

Anyway, my current project is expanded to 8 by 12 baseplates (80 by 120 inches). About half of the project is ocean and islands. I will be adding another 8 x 8 baseplate layout of town -- but that may take a little while!

Well I have to say that I don't like this as a castle MOC, thought it does have value as a "teaching" castle." As an actual castle it is a huge flop, though it doesn't seem to be built to be realistic in any way. The opposing primary colors on the inside look random and distracting to me. Of course the way it climbs into the sky is farsical. But maybe it's meant to do just that.

As a means of showing what went on in a castle, it works for me. On that level it is a great example of demonstrating the various functions and purposes of the castle, it's inhabitants, and it's many rooms. I like the running commentary, and the many details like the falling "tile" in the garderobe. Kind of a mixed bag I suppose.

Part of my little creation... never got to finish it though. Just a corner wall and tower.

They are all huge, but there is a difference between tall and large. Personally I would choose the one which takes more pieces. We could all build a tall castle, but can we build a large wide detailed one.

Hi,

A very impressive fantasy castle, but I strongly doubt that there are similar castles on the "banks of the Rhine" (or anywhere else). I know the Rhine castles very well and there is no such building, even after some of the horrible and unlucky restorations, which were carried out in the 19th and early 20th century.

Bye,

Thomas
