At last we fully understand why the chess sets were on such a steap discount...

I got mine at Christmas, and I never even noticed that the bishops don't have armor. I don't think the packaging on mine shows it... though it might. I'll check later. I still need to get a replacement arm and maybe torso for my Red Queen; and I also need a 1x2 dark bley tile that was missing from my 10182.

I just got mine too. No armor, bunch of glue pieces. Still a good deal though :D for a viking army!

Before I buy this I want to know if people have had any success ungluing the parts. Has anyone tried this? What methods did you use, and how successful were they?

Some of the peices come off fairly easy. For instance, the Queen's skirts come off with the least amount of effort, and some of the horns will come out if you jiggle them a bit. Some of the other peices are not glued as well and will come off as well. I haven't really tried anything special, I just thought I would throw that in.

Mine were not glued and I bought them about three weeks ago which was pretty late compared to everyone else. If you do happen to get some that are glued, I believe a little bit of force can undo it since it is not super-glue.

I accidentally bought a glued together 7894 airport off ebay... (ex-display model). The pieces were kind of fused, but the most successful approach for me was simply pulling the pieces apart. Of course, this didn't work for pieces that couldn't easily be gripped, and things like flat bricks. I ended up using pliers on those; some pieces got scuffed, and there were a few casualties (a half-dozen or so in the entire set). Also used a knife to lever between bricks/cracks (*CAUTION* pretty dangerous!). I really hope never again to have to try and prise apart glued Lego bricks. The creaking and snapping sounds as they come apart are most disturbing.

The moral of the story - when buying on ebay, always read the full listing, and indeed fully translate any German (or other language) listings.

Apologies if the anecdote is a bit off-topic, but the advice on glued lego bricks stands.

Okay, I'm glad to hear it! Thanks for replying, looks like I'll probably be getting one.

I contacted shop at home in regard to the armor and they sent me 24 pieces, 4 for each set.

Well, it's been a week, since I emailed Lego about the missing Euro armors, and today I recieved nine of them in the mail. I am extremely satisfied, because I got the four for the set I just bought, 4 for the set I bought when they first came out, and Lego through in one extra.

In case anyone of you were wondering as to why the chess sets are missing armors. I was told by customer service that there was a design change, and they are still willing to replace the missing pieces.

Well, the Viking Line is finally marked down for Ireland and S@H (and presumably rest of Europe too). Unlike the US, no half-price for us - obviously our purses need more lightening. Anyways - I ordered the Viking chess set €34.99 (€15 off) and Viking Army €23.99 (€6 off - that's €11 less than the marked-up price I previously paid).

Bought Castle Tic-tac-toe also - €15 isn't bad for 10 armoured knight minifigs!

Managed to *just* stay under €75 for the whole order, so €11.99 shipping instead of €14.99.

You guys in the US have it so good, even the UK has it better than Ireland (shipping costs)!
