Weekly Set Review: Sea Serpent
Re: Weekly Set Review: Sea Serpent
I drooled over this set for a long time and finally got it back in 1995. It was a fun little set, but I think that by now I've managed to resell a bunch of the parts so I wouldn't be able to rebuild it. I'm glad I got it.

Sea Serpent
I like it, because for a dinky little 'vikingesque' boat, it had some great stuff. First and foremost, it came with a handful of characters. Plenty of shields, weapons, oars, and that awesome sail. It had great playability and I remember having extending it to be doubled and tripled in length with no more than the addition of a red six by six plate and some black 1 x 6 bricks.
Great set, a real classic as far as the feel of the Black Knights.

I have 2 of these... Already the amazing minifigs have been pointed out. Mostly my reason for getting them at the time. The only pieces I don't care for are the blue turret tops. A similar set now, not neccisarily a boat, but "something" with 5 figs that have excellent torsos (looks like they really are castle, even from a historical perspective), helms, weapons and shields for around $25 would be most welcome!

We're all in the same "boat" here... well, like Theoden said, alas that these evil days should be mine.

I always wanted this set, but never was able to find it in stores. I has great figs, alot of shields the nice BK flag, and the blue turrets. Very nice set, 10/10. If this was a legend, I would be broke.

This was actually my first lego set, that I can remember. I was only 6 at the time and was the biggest set my parents would buy me at the time. I really enjoyed it, it included alot of figures/accessories. It provided hours of playtime for me and I would really like to see this set as a legend. I would not hesitate to get 10 of these to make a large Black Knight fleet.

If I had money enough I'll buy 100 of them.
And I'd get it bigger. .

Well. I did have the money, and it got a lot bigger. It was the root design for the Viking Longships I took to BrickFest PDX. The pix of my largest ship are on the main site.Luís wrote:If I had money enough I'll buy 100 of them.

I got 15 of these bad boys. IMHO these are the best castle boat, best medium sized set, and the best army builder all in one. And it did come in a pack with two smaller sets for a while. I remember raiding the local Toys r Us for these guys. Ah, the heyday of lego castle. Will those halcyon days return? Lego, are you listening?

I don't own this set, but I'm starting to think that 1990-1993 sets worth it.
This is the best Castle ship ever. It's a really nice one. The color scheme is great and the number of minifigs too.
The dragon on the veil is cool.
I should get one.
One flaw however. The green and yellow flag are nice together, but has no sense with Dragons.
9/10

My only regret about this set is that I only have one. It's awesome and also comes with 2 of the torsos I'm collecting (the armored ones not the Black Falcons although I do like those too). Also the sail is a extremely valuable piece. It also comes with a lot of shields which are rather hard to come by. One of best castle sets ever. Defenitely in the top ten.
