Rochester Keep MOC

Post by Clarkryang »

I built this Lego version of Rochester Keep in Kent, England. I tried to make it as close as possible to the real thing, except I added the moat because I like moats! What do you think?

Hey, I saw this the other day. Great job. The crenelations are nice and good job on the interior. I must say that I usually am not a huge fan of using light and dark grey in walls but I like how you did it.

Dear Clarkryang,

I saw this castle on Brickshlelf, and I really like it a lot!
I especially like the detailing and all the action inside. :)
The interior looks great. Any info on the scale; 1:40 maybe?
The moat is a nice touch, but it would even be better if the surrounding land was a bit higher.
Thumbs up from me.
Kind regards,

Teddy

Nice work.

Ironically, unlike Castlebuilder100 I positively love mottled walls on LEGO castles so it's nice to see you throw in a few dark grey bricks here and there. The only criticism of that would be that you need to mix a few more dark grey bricks in. Rochester Keep is an imposing castle so it's no surprise that yours is as well. I'm not too fond of the moat as it doesn't really seem appropriate around a keep of this nature. If anything, the keep would look better sitting up on a bit of a hill. The interior is nicely done. Like Teddy, I'm a real sucker for structures that have an actual interior. For me, a castle is only half complete when there is no matching interior.

A real nice effort. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Great Moc Clarkryang! :D As Blueandwhite said you could have put in a couple of more dark grey bricks.

Wonderful!
I like the dining room and the jail as well.
The chandelier is amazing!

I alos like the way in which you connect the floors with the stairs.

The interior is what got me on this MOC. I love all of the details. The stairwell is just perfect. The walkway above the main hall is so well done. I am really glad that you did not tile out the entire castle. The studs make the whole thing much more playable. Really great work!

Good job! It's very formidable looking, definitely would not want to attack it! The land around it is nicely constructed also. The only thing I don't particularly like is that the walls are built with too much light grey, maybe mottle it more.
