The Jousting KK2 Set
Okay, I realize this is a lot later than the day I promised, but I think I've finally got rid of the issues with my camera (to the extent that it wouldn't take pictures...I'm still gonna need a while to figure out the quality thing. The pictures are better in the folder, but that's not public yet, so I'm sorry).
Here are a couple of the better pictures, the rest I reccomend you check when the folder is public.
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SirSm ... tking1.jpg -- The King's view
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SirSm ... tsigns.jpg -- Signs of each knight
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SirSm ... tking2.jpg -- more of the King
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SirSm ... irgold.jpg -- The king's chair opens up with a gold hiding spot.
And the folder: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=85686

PS Again, very sorry on the quality

Resta's right...its a slamming thing.
The pictures are kinda dark (among other things), but here's how it works:
In this picture: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SirSm ... stfull.jpg : you can kind of see that the back of the horse things are slanted like this "- \" if the dash were the head of the horse.
Then, as you can kind of see here, http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SirSm ... _thumb.jpg , on the back of the horseys are the 1x2 bricks with pegs. These attach to the back of the jousting thing.
So once that's in, you slam on this thing: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SirSm ... sthit2.jpg : and it presses down on the slant. This causes the horsey to shoot out.
I hope that made sense...

Jousting set?
In my opinion, this is jousting in the same way that riding a horse makes you a knight.
Jousting is a sport done on horses. No matter which country you went to in medieval Europe, I'm positive that having a horse was a universal requirement.
Maybe this is a some sort of middle ages theme park for baby knightlings. Can't you just see Papa Vladek and his little laddy out for a day of father/son bonding?

In my opinion, this is the worst looking Castle set ever. It is just plain stupid.

I'd rather have it this way than the alternative.
Think about it from LEGO's perspective: You want a jousting set with tons of playability. Kids today are all about things that move. We saw it in the last jousting set in KK1. Instead of jousting each other, the knights charged this spinny axe propellor.
Here it's no different, LEGO just took the next logical step: instead of things moving when the Knight's hit them, make the Knight's themselves move. And would you really want real horses in that case? From a set design perspective, how awful would that be? A knight stitting on a LEGO horse standing on a platform on wheels? A horse-esque car-thing at least looks better.
And the playability is way up there with this set. Here you have a set where kids can slam their fists down on the launcher and make their knights crash into each other. Granted, I thought the fad of crashing toy cars into each other to see how many pieces fell of ended several years ago, but what do I know.
Besides, doesn't this set cost $30? Even if it did have real horses, you'd get more horses for your money for buying Vladek's encounter, which for $30 you could get 3 horses (and 3 bardings) and money left over (it's an $8 set, isn't it?)
In any case, real horses or not, I don't care. I'm an accessory and parts monkey. I want the bricks, I want the horse helms. I couldn't care less about the set itself. I can build better if I want to.

That's an understatement.SavaTheAggie wrote: I couldn't care less about the set itself. I can build better if I want to.
I think that anyone here could build better. Maybe even using just the parts that come with this set.
Oh well........ as you said, it has some great parts. I just wish that horses were some of them.
Here's what I wish Lego would do: through in a few extra parts (think HORSES), and create two instruction booklets, so that you can build both a good, more realistic design, and you still have your launchers.
The launchers/launchees could be turned into a battering ram or something....
Of course you can build better, Sava, you've proved that over and over.
But think about all the kids growing up thinking that medieval knights had some kind of cars in their jousting
Seriously though, the inspiration to that thing from KK1 (set 6095 I think) may very well be taken from one of the caompetitions that was included in the medieval tournaments, but sure you're right Lego-horses are'nt that moveable, I dont know if putting them on wheels is the right way to go though...
They actually look like battering rams, if I ever get this set, that's what they're going to be.

I'm back, and so is Castle!
