Re: A challenge to you...EDITED!

Post by Quickblade22 »

Back when Trevor and I discussed this in chat, I was at a stuck point. I had dismantled my big castle I built the previous summer and was thinking of building a new one. If any of you know me well, it's a well known fact that once I build something I like, I keep it built for a long time, especially big MOCs. So I was frustrated and was about to give up on building a castle for a while. Maybe I'd build smaller things, but not a castle. Then Trevor implicates me in this thread and I thought "oh boy, he sets a challenge from both of us and I have nothing to show. No motivation, no anything." Skip to a few days ago, and I'm glad to say that I have been working on a 32 x 32 castle that while isn't great, should be something I can show with some pride. Stay tuned :woo:

PS. Thanx Trevor

Though it was build beforehand, my wizard tower fits the challenge:

This isn't really a castle, but it's close enough, and it's built on a 32x32 baseplate.

:woo: Crusaders! My favorite! I'd like to ask you some questions and make some comments but I don't want to steal away from the topic when you post it later this week. For now I'm just going to say that I saw it, I liked it and I'll wait for the topic thread...

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Wow. Very nice. The mix of red and dark red on the roof really adds some realism.

Here is a sample, (and unfortunatly the best picture I'll have) of my 32 x 32 castle I call imaginativly enough.....Crown Keep :tasty: I'll post a seperate thread once I get more pics uploaded. This was great fun and I almost didn't participate, til I thought to myself "I don't seem to be doing too well with the big castles, why not a smaller one". To my surprise, I was able to come up with this. I'll save the rest of this "interesting" commentary for when I post a proper thread. Until then, enjoy.

Cool stuff Eric, I'll give you a more detailed version of my opinion when you've posted your thread :)

Here's mine, I couldn't think of a name either so I went with Valenpeak, which I find pretty lame but it's the best I could come up with:

I'm a bit late coming across this challenge, but I think I'll give it a go next week. I might be a little past the "deadline" before I'm done, but since there are no prizes I'll beg for forgiveness or feign indifference to rules ala James Dean or Elvis. This might be just the challenge I need to jumpstart my castle building. Love what I've seen so far, btw.

Hey, I hinted that some of the rules could or maybe even should be interpreted by each builder so why not the deadline....the more the merrier!
On a side note, how did you miss this? It's been stickied at the top of the MOC's forum for two weeks. ;)

I saw this this week when Aliencat posted his entry on Lowlug and if I have time enough I'll try to build something as well... I'm not really a Castle builder and those big castles intimidate me a bit, so this would be a nice way to start smaller.
I started building something yesterday but I missed the rule that it had to be minifig scale (I was doing microfig scale with the new game figs), but I can easily change what little I made thus far to something minifig scale.

You are such a fast builder, it'll work :)
I myself am putting the last details in before taking pictures.

Great challenge! :D

I was building on a 32x48 but due to a lack of bricks i am redesigning it to 32x32 meaning i can bring in an entry for this contest :D, i need to work quick now if i want to make it before the deadline but having good hopes i'll make it :D
