...riding out on a horse in a star-spangled rodeo!

BTW, It shows better in real life, but the runaway mill wheel (POTC2) is dragging the mine carts and man on the chain behind them. To try and demonstrate this motion, I included sparks on the minecarts' wheels, scrape marks on the wall (radiator bricks), the break in the track, gouge marks in the ground and the figures on top are running in the right direction.
But it has still caused confusion. How would you represent a rolling motion without resorting to cartoonish flex cables?

Hey Sly,

I already left some feedback on Flickr, but this is awesome. I'd love to see more western MOCs. Maybe the upcoming Toy Story theme will have some things to inspire this.

Saw this on brickshelf the other day and was very impressed. At the time it didn't occur to me that a water wheel shouldn't be in a mine, but now that you've pointed out all the details I think it comes together very nicely.

So many details, you really thought of everything. I absolutely love the landscaping and how the rocks are all at an angle. The cave design itself is just perfect. The little things like the steer skull, the scratch marks on the wall, the bird cage, the mine cart sparks, and the tan torso's as bags of gold. I am very curious how you did the water wheel and the barrel. Is the string the main thing keeping it all together? Great job!

You know, the first thought that comes to my mind is that the angles make me motion sick. :twitch: No offense to the builder, it is fantastic and very great in detail, I've just been very sick lately and this just puts my eyes at so many angles. I see in LEGO blocks and angles, so this challenges my visual cortex. Which is to say it is very cool. 8)

Toy Story... if only Woody's hat was detachable, then it'd be plain sailing for Wild West fans :tasty:

Pretty much. The string goes over and under all the 1x6s to hold them in place, whilst 2 jumper plates underneath the "central" 1x6 (i.e. the central of the 3 1x6s between the ones attached to the spokes) keep the 1x6s in a curved shape overall. It's remarkably strong, but the string has to be very tight to hold the 1x6s in place.
