The Christmas is comin', it's time for Briclinkin'! :D

Post by Dr Kilroy »

Hey! I've got a question. I've decided I want to get for Christmas some old, good, used sets from BL instead of IJ and City. They must be from Pirates (old, first wave of course :) ) and Forestmen, they must have many minifigs, they must be worthwhile and they mustn't cost more than about 150$. Help me - what should I buy? (and in what store? :) ).

Regards, Dr Kilroy

I think this is a silly post, but I'm going to try to be helpful.

First, you haven't told us what you even have. Secondly, are you looking for used, open, misb, with instructions, etc?

Also, bricklink has its own ratings system, so you can gauge who to buy from, based on that. We also have a reputable dealers thread:

And a C-C member's store thread:

Also check out the set review threads, I think that almost every castle set has been reviewed. Check the lugnet and brickset reviews for more information. Eurobricks also does reviews of vintage sets.

Yes, it's a bit silly. :tasty: I just translated this text from other forum, people there know more about me. Sorry, so now I'll tell you everything.

1. I don't have any Classic Castle sets.
2. I'm looking for used sets in good condition with instructions, without box.

Thanks for links, sorry, if this post is too silly for posting it here.

If you are looking for forestmen sets with lots of mini-figs, you should check out 6066 camouflaged outpost, or 6071 forestmen river crossing, or 6077 forestmen river fortress (in that order). They aren't cheap though and will eat up quite a bit of your $150 depending on what quality of set you're looking for. You may be able to find them cheaper on ebay if you're willing to go that route, but is also a bit more risky.

I imagine Forestman's Crossing will be very expensive...

Yep... $81 for a complete one... Yikes!

Makes me glad my Dad bought me one when I was a kid. And it makes me even gladder my Mom found a nearly complete second one (including the forest-woman) at a thrift store a few years ago...

You might want to check out ebay too. You can still find some good deals out there, if you put in the time.
