It isn't a Black Knights top. It is simply a generic chain mail/plate mail armor torso piece that both factions happen to use not being exlusive to one or the other even though it was first released in a Black Knights set as far as I am aware. Even the Black Falcons are seen wearing this in other sets from the early 90s.

Pretty sure it was on the Royal Knights too in 1995.

This is a pretty cool set, but not a very good castle. Maybe if there was a wall on the outer side of the ramp. Good minifig selection though.

Yep, your right I forgot about that one. It looks like 3 of the mini figures in set 6090 as well as 2 in set 6078 also have the same torso.

This is slightly off topic.. but in 6018 the guys in the boat are wearing the chain mail torsos.. So why is it listed as a Black knight set even though they carry a falcon shield?

I much prefer the gold lion symbol the axeman and spearman wear in this set. A standard torso design for the factions. At least you know their allegiance unlike the crossdressing bowmen in this set lol

Check out the CC archive page for this set: http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6018.html The set is listed mainly for the Monarchs because the title includes "Dragon" which is used in their shields. However, we do note the Black Falcon influence in the set description.

Further discussion on 6018 can be made here: http://classic-castle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4901

well in my time there were 2 classic castle sets and for one I was only one so I have to think about this...
it has great pcs as far as I can tell lots o figs and if you added the 6080 kings castle you'd have a pretty good crusader collection
on its own 10/10
combined w/another set 30/10

This is one of those really cool middle-to-expensive sets (for a kid), and I don't believe I ever saw this one in person. I LOVE the look, I LOVE the figs assortment, and the idea is sound. This must have been either right after I got out of Castle Lego's for a period, OR most likely they never sold where I lived (hard to find most things when you live in a small town, pre-internet). But the effort on behalf of Lego at the time of production was strong. I hate to overuse high ratings, but I'd give this set a 9/10 or maybe 9.5/10. It's got a little of everything :)

This set was a bit before my time, but luckily I got one off of ebay as part of my quest to make an ideal kingdom out of official sets. The quest failed, but this set was an instant classic to me. I loved the tower and how this set looked like a sort of keep. I could just imagine this castle being the final border fort along a hadrian style wall. All this aside parts are wonderful, playability is great, and its by far the best raised baseplate set ever ( although I'm still partial to RK castle for nostalgic reasons :) ). 9.9/10, 10 /10 if you add an interior to the tower.

One of my all-time favorites. I like the feeling it has to it - a bit unique for the crusaders, and some nice fig variety.

This kind of base plate was never a big one for me when I first started collecting again in 2000, but over the years it's grown on me, and for this set, I think it fits quite nicely.

I remember loving the ghost when I was a kid. :)
