Well, the thing that strikes me is that it seems like the Indiana Jones theme has dried up, and yet we still will be getting Map Room Indy and Sallah.

I found interesting and beatiful the 7571 and the 7573.
Especially the fortress seems very beatiful!

I'm really looking forward to some of the pieces like the turbans to add some diversity.

I'm with Dale and the rest. The fleshies limit these sets use to me but I might have to get some of the parts from them. The new helmets and turbans are awesome!

Ostrich tastes more like a cross between chicken and beef, in my humble opinion.Count Blacktron wrote:In strange places of the Earth (like California), there are Ostrich farms. What product to the farmers sell from them? Eggs, you'd likely say... but you'd be wrong. They sell the whole bird to the butcher. Apparently, ground Ostrich meat tastes just like ground beef, and has almost no fat whatsoever.
As for the Prince of Persia line, I will pick up at least one copy of the palace set. The camel is a must have and I need more tan/brown earth tones. I also predict a lot of Assassin's Creed MOCs coming out with this lines release (seriously, the first thing I thought of was "Oh look, Assassin's Creed!").

Wow these have some great pieces! I will probably get a few of the cheaper sets.

I don't know about PoP characters, but I was really hoping for a Greek character with helmet. ( Alexander vs Persia) Anyway, the smallest set will certainly be on my buy-in-multiples sets. I think that the gold dome pieces are being used in the Grand Emporium set, in dark green, and it looks like the dome is really two half-domes. This will be the what, third time, that Alfred Molina has been made into a LEGO fig. Yep, THREE. Satipo, Doc Ock, PoP Shah.
P.S. Can someone tell me when the PoP story takes place? Ottoman Era, Medieval, Biblical, Ancient?

Are we really so minifig-centric that we can look at these sets and so readily decide that they aren't worth anything because the figs are less useful to us? Mmmmm, parts.....and these look wicked for parts!

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

I'll probably only get the small set on my tight budget!

Since this is a licensed line with fleshies, I am moving this PoP topic to General Lego. We previously discussed other licensed themes with Castles, such as Harry Potter, in General Lego.

I don't feel I'm quite so minifig-centric as just trying to get the most bang for the buck. Since sets with figs come with a lower part count per dollar spent, I like the figs to be useful. Otherwise I tend to buy more creator type sets which have really high part counts for the price.Ye Olde Republic wrote:Are we really so minifig-centric that we can look at these sets and so readily decide that they aren't worth anything because the figs are less useful to us? It is likely some of the POP parts will be unique and I will have to buy these sets to get them. I agree with Ye Olde Republic that these do have some wicked parts! More money for TLG and less in the pocket.

Re: Prince of Persia sets - final pics and prices
Hey,
Personally I think set 7571 is a good balance between figs/accessories and architectural elements. Though the inclusion of tons of that new curved arch in the Grand Emporium makes me hopeful that we'll get those in much more useful colors (i.e. gray, tan) in other sets this year.
I don't understand why the fact that these are fleshies makes them so much less useful. It takes like two seconds to swap out the heads and hands, and I don't see flesh printing on the torsos (except, of course, for that one bare chested torso in the ostrich race). There are a couple with necklines printed on the torso, but those aren't really flesh, but sort of a tan - could easily be an undershirt or something.
BTW, Napoleon, those big domes are in quarters, not halves. If you look at the high resolution photos of the Grand Emporium set you can see the seam between the two parts, and in the large castle of the PoP sets you can see that they expanded the dome by putting curved slopes between those dome pieces.

Re: Prince of Persia sets - final pics and prices
I agree with Bruce. Most of the fleshies can easily be converted into conventional yellow minifigs without a lot of fuss. Moreover; these sets look like an incredible set of bricks useful for Castle fans. I'm not too fond of the larger sets, but they do offer excellent value. The Quest Against Time for example looks to be an amazing source of dark bley bricks and slopes; essential for landscaping. The price looks pretty reasonable too, staying under the ever important 10 cents per brick mark. The same holds true for the largest set. For a licenced line, you can't expect much more than this.
As I see it, this is one of the must-have lines for Castle fans in 2010.

Re: Prince of Persia sets - final pics and prices
I populate my LEGO worlds with whatever torsos work best. There are a lot of great torsos from Star Wars, Harry Potter and Indiana Jones for use in most of the themes we all build around. Most times with the fleshies you can just pop in some yellow hands and a yellow head and get a great result. I expect that the Prince Of Persia theme will be a great addition for parts and people if you are looking to expand your character and location types away from the typical conflict themes of official Castle sets. I am really looking forward to these sets, however I am afraid they will be something of a flash in the pan for LEGO as they will likely become discontinued as a theme by Christmas 2010. Sometimes I like having a theme keep going for a whole calender year or longer as did Indiana Jones so I have a chance to pursue other sets from LEGO. This year will be a difficult year to remain focused with all the new and GREAT looking product coming.
