Post by Kevin1990 »

Hey guys there have been alot of discusstion about the new sets.
but I have a question wich I just cant get out.
Hope this is the right topic

any way if you look at this picture:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/fbtbnet/4357441689/

you see that the wizard deffently has a black beard, and also some printing on the torso and legs and hat

weather if you look at this picture it has a white beard: and rarely any printing

the one with the white beard has the confidential stamp on it while the one with the black beard doesn't appear to. I don't know what that means for which one is coming out but I sure hope it's the one with the black beard.

Let me add to what divonic said. Now this is just a guess, but I would say the most reasonable guess is that the black-bearded wizard will be the one released. Compare the pictures of the boxes again; the box for the white-bearded wizard looks much more like an early prototype. In addition to the fact that it has the 'confidential' sticker, it only has '7-12' and '7955' printed on it. Look at the box beside it; it lists the number of pieces in the set as XX. These are really early mock ups. Now look at the picture of the black-bearded wizard's box. Printed there is 'Ages/edades 7-12,' the set number and the set name, the number of pieces, it's description as a building toy, and a warning that the contents are a choking hazard. In short, it looks like a complete and refined product.

Based on that, I'm going to suggest that it will be the black-bearded wizard that comes out. Early prototypes often have parts in common colours to stand in for parts that will need to be produced in new ones as part of their mock-up. Because the white-bearded wizard's box looks like an early prototype and the black-bearded wizard's box looks completed, I'm thinking we'll see the black-bearded one.

Agree. The white beard looks like it was just a substitute part used for a prototype build.

I actually want the black beard, speaking as a customer. LEGO has sold me many, many white and grey beards, but those custom black ones have not been widely available in the USA.

well I got a lot of black beards right now, personly I think it would be ashamed if the black beard came out. because then the black beard wouldn't be a special color any more and since I am a rare collector.. there is another one off the list.

Hey,

As others said, this will most likely be a black beard. We've certainly seen early prototypes of sets before where they used existing elements as stand-ins for elements that were not yet produced. Personally I'm happy any time they mass produced what was previously a rare elements. With all due respect to those who had turkeys, for instance, previous to the MMV, I'm happier that they are now more available. I do have a black beard that I paid a lot for (well, a lot for a single element). Since I haven't really used it, I'm a little bummed that I didn't just wait until it was a cheap item, but that's how life goes.

For me, I'm really happy we're getting a black beard instead of the white one because I've got a bunch of those. Every builder though has different inventories and Lego couldn't have several variations of the set with different color beards...maybe they should make a beard pack to suit all? :D

Maybe a battlepack! Old men vs. the young'uns.

I'm glad they're giving us black beards.
To those who are about to Lego: toss me a few bricks.

Hey! It could be a whole entire new faction/theme too! But anyway,

I'm still glad they choose the black beard because I can't see them using a tan or red, for an "old wizard/evil wizard" type. Sure, the piece would be great, but it would leave some people confused. They would have to change the face too...tan would possibly work if you changed the face...but still...

Yay black! :woo:

...everything new is better. Color or shape.
But colors are not so important (to me); different shape of beard would be great...

You mean like the same design, but shorter by half, or more bushy?

It is amazing how much detail part designers have sculpted into hair pieces, so I am sure they could do quite a bit with the beards in various lengths. At least they are expanding the color range of this part they already have and it will cost less for the same effect. Perhaps more beards will appear in the future, but for now they have three designs they can use (including both dwarf beards).

Mods & admins could give us a bearded smilie. :eyebrows:
