Re: Review: 2010 Kingdoms advent calendar
So I managed to pick up the advent calendar at my local Lego store. The checkered torso guard has the faded pinkish printing. With the exception of the Jester impulse which was perfect, I have been intentionally not buying any set with checkered torso guards just because of this. The rest of the parts in the Calendar were perfect and really the red queen was totally worth it. In case anyone didn't realize the green wench that is also in the Medieval Market Village, has a different head in the Calendar. Its the new open mouth smile used in some other 2010 town sets. Also the wizard uses the head print from the new King otherwise only available in the new castle. It actually looks really good with the beard piece.

Ooh, I'm sorry to hear that you got a pink knight. Mine was fine but it would seem that the advent calendar is hit and miss. This is interesting, what it the date on the flap? Mine came off the production line on....hmm, it doesn't have the date stamp on it. The sealing tape on the end of the box read 2200 though, I wonder if that has any importance?

Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Re: Review: 2010 Kingdoms advent calendar
It sounds to me as if this set is simply a hodgepodge of leftover pieces that were overproduced and now inserted into an overpriced set. But I could be wrong and am/are hoping for a correction/clarification.

Re: Review: 2010 Kingdoms advent calendar
These are listed on the S@H page in the US, but they are listed as "not available". I received the new catalog in the mail today and it's listed in there, so I'm guessing/hoping it's going to be available 9/1? It also says "limited quantity" on S@H, so hopefully they don't sell out too fast.
Edit: It now is available at S@H online for the US, I just ordered mine.

Re: Review: 2010 Kingdoms advent calendar
I picked up 2 of these at my local toy store yesterday. i wasn't expecting to find them so it was a great start to the weekend.
The sets great but I'm a bit disappointed in the figures. There could have been a few more Dragon knights in the box. 8 figures and only one of them is a Dragon. We don't even have a leader for the Dragons yet but we now have the entire royal family for the Lions.. king, queen, princess prince, jester and I guess the blue wizard is for the Lions.
I think they should have replaced one of the Lion foot soldiers with a dragon one.
Dragons are outnumbered .... again

Re: Review: 2010 Kingdoms advent calendar
I understand everybody that is a fan of the Dragons would feel disappointment over the lack of them in the advent calendar but personally, I'm quite happy that it only has one and it has a great helm to boot. Then again, I don't particularly like the faction all that much so I'm a bit biased the other way.

Re: Review: 2010 Kingdoms advent calendar
I was lucky to find one (actually, many, I just bought one) at the local LEGO store yesterday. Lots of nice figs and parts, and the only reason I got it was due to recommendation of this review.
Well worth the money. I might buy a second if funds permit me to.

Since I didn't see anyone mention this the Kingdoms Advent Calendar is now available on S@H in the US. I ordered mine this morning.
(Now just watch someone did mention it earlier.....)

Re: Review: 2010 Kingdoms advent calendar
This is good news! I've been hearing a lot of people saying that it's a bit overpriced but we need to consider the difference in an advent calendar and a regular set. There is far more packaging, thus a higher production cost. Plus it's a bit of a specialty item so we pay a bit of a premium for that. Look at the difference in the collectifigs and the magnet sets....how much does it cost to produce those darn magenets anyway?? It's just a premium, they charge it because people will pay it.

Re: Review: 2010 Kingdoms advent calendar
Yeah, I'm just not convinced it's a very good bang for the buck, but I went ahead and ordered one. Perhaps using it as it's intended (instead of just treating it like a "parts" set) will make it seem worth it. That's asking a lot, though...It's hard enough not tearing the delivery guy's arm off when it gets between me and my new toys...and I have to wait until Advent just to open the thing...a lot can happen in that amount of time

Re: Review: 2010 Kingdoms advent calendar
Did you mean to post that in this thread? It just seems kind of out of place but if you did, I'm not sure how a sword in a stone and a wizard and what seems to be an alchemists desk aren't "fantasy details".pijani wrote:I miss fantasy details...

Yea,I agree. I ordered on when they showed up at the Lego store for the mini-figs in it and to relive my childhood days of advent calenders and presents. Then my girlfriend stole it from me and won't tell me where she hide it till it gets to be Xmas time. Damnit! I don't want to wait to open it but I guess that really is what I should do.

Re: Review: 2010 Kingdoms advent calendar
I finally got my 3 copies of the calendar only to find that the lion knight with the kettle helm has a pink torso in all three sets. Needless to say, I'm more than a bit disappointed with this development. I had hoped that LEGO would have done a better job sorting out this torso issue. Everything else about the calendar was stellar though.
