I actually have two of them! (they mostly went to contribute parts for my massive Japanese-styled post-apocalyptic castle, though.....) Those sets provided me with my first "elves" post-dark ages.... I HAD a ton of the original Forestmen (which my brother and I used as elves, we even had a replica of Caras Galadhon built from parts of the original forestmen sets), but unfortunately I lost them all when we gave the sets away during my first dark age.H3LLB0Y3 wrote:My first set was Bandit Ambush. Re: What were your first Castle sets
My first few castle sets I got for Christmas 2006 (I think?), were:
Knight's Kingdom II (Crappy time to start castle, I know...)
The Citadel of Orlan
http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8780-1
The Castle of Morcia
http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8781-1
Vladek's Dark Fortress
http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8877-1
...and various others from that series. Naturally, I drooled over the KKI sets in an old magazine I had acquired, and was disappointed that they had nothing better to offer than four multi-colored knights and some ridiculously unreal swords and visors. When the Fantasy series came out though, I just about shat my pants in excitement... to think I about blew $200 on a King Leo's castle in a desperate Ebay bid the year before...

And now for something completely different (The Larch): I read so often things like "I still got all the parts", and I wonder: Yeah, why would you not? How does one lose Lego?

"Three causes that led to my lost Lego are:
1. Moving to various houses while growing up.
2. Holes in the floors of the above mentioned old houses
3. Younger siblings - This also leads to broken black swords, round shields, lion flags, etc.
But with all of these problems, our family Lego collection including the castle sets are only missing 2-3% of the bricks. Pieces damaged from play wear would be a higher percentage.

Well, lucky me again. One move, no little siblings, all new houses.
the mysterious black hole under every ones bed
I have had many parts go under there never to be seen again

Re: What were your first Castle sets
Hello, new here.
I believe my first castle set was the Forestmen's Hideout. It's possible that I had some small set before that however as I seem to recall a single Crusader minfig floating around that I used to battle my Forrestmen. To me the guy in all green was Robin Hood himself. Not too long afterwards I got the Castle Mini Figures set. Wish Lego did something like this now. Guess they caught on to making more money off army builders by forcing them to buy the regular sets.

The two of my first castle sets were:
6011 Black Knights Treasure and 6041 Armor Shop.
The falcon from 6011 was "traveling to the castle" for months and months, but haven't gotten there until 2009 - a 20 years long trip

Re: What were your first Castle sets
Well first one would be 2586 LEGO Chess Promotional Set then I got a tub of 90's Legos with a couple castle sets that I've been able to identify but I only have the Instructions for 6079 Dark Forest Fortress so that could count as second then the next would be Kingdoms 7950 and 7949. ~KnightMan~

677 Knight's Procession. I still have some of the original figs, without faces, crests almost invisible, chin guards and nose guards busted.

Re: What were your first Castle sets
My first set I bought off of Bricklink for 30 dollars. Coincidentally, that was also my first purchase off of Bricklink! Took me a while to start buying individual pieces; I'm hooked now though
Unfortunately, this is the only classic Lego castle set I own. Though I do have some classic minifigures

Re: What were your first Castle sets
My brother bought that set last year and the instructions are really hard to build off of because it looks like a big spot of black when I was building the ramp (Defiantly not like modern instructions ) . ~KnightMan~soccerkid6 wrote:My first set I bought off of Bricklink for 30 dollars. Re: What were your first Castle sets
I got this little set back in the days, You can say it is the one to blame for my Lego castle buff
6017-1: King's Oarsmen
This started it all, from then to 1993 I got every year a few sets of Castle and other Legos of course.

Re: What were your first Castle sets
My first set was bought during a vacation in Florida at a Kmart that was across the street from our hotel. It was none other than 6016 Knight's Arsenal. I thought it was a great set it came with lots of weapons and was my first horse. Looking back it's a pretty lame set. (I remember I couldn't get the hoses to stay in place) But I fell in love with Castle after that and ended up getting 6081, 6071 and a few others for Christmas that year. Though I still regret passing on 6066 for my birthday for a stupid wind-up Ninja Turtle.
