Reached my castle goal!!

Post by dyntar »

Yay!!! I'm extremely happy :D :D The drinks are on me!!

You probably wont care but....
After 2 years I've finally reached my goal to collect one of each of the Lego castle sets from 1984 to 1992. That's over 50 sets. Well its almost finished when I get my final piece on Monday - the black bird from the Kings Mountain Fortress. Very hard to find in Australia.

I've now got all the sets and figures from the Crusaders, Lion Knights, Black Falcons, Black Knights [my favourites] , Forestmen and Wolfpack factions. And Majisto's workshop..[ I always liked the look of it.] I have never had any interest in collecting BatLords or Green Dragons so I drew the line at them.

I had 15 sets from when I was a kid. I bought about 5 sets whole. But about 30 of the sets I have had to piece together order by order on Bricklink. Buying the sets piece by piece actually worked out cheaper than buying the smaller sets complete or importing them into Australia. The hardest part was finding the parts for the figures that haven't had the gold or silver printing rubbed off.

Now i can finally throw away all those parts checklists lol
Time to bask in all the castley goodness :D :D

Anyone else trying to reach a goal?

That's very impressive. I would never have had the patience to be able to look up all the pieces and sets and acquire them all. Do you keep them put together?

Thank you :D

I keep them all built as sets. Its more fun than having a bag full of parts. They are all displayed in a cabinet and on shelves in the lounge room but it doesn't fit all the sets. So I might need to keep swapping them around every few weeks.

I think my next goal will be an even bigger challenge. I might try to collect one of each of the Ninja sets.

Congratulations. It took me a few years to accomplish the same goal. Did you collect the sets with their boxes? Of course the next goal could be to collect misb versions...

Congratulations. That's quite a goal, and quite the corresponding accomplishment. Do you have a picture of all of them displayed in order to make us all jealous?

Congrats as collecting these must have taken some real work. It is not cheap to collect old sets any more. I am also curious did you get the boxes/instructions for many or most of the sets?

Luckily for me I collected all of those sets back when they were first released. I only had to fill in a few holes in my collection and that was expensive enough for me.
As a coincidence I just finished taking apart all of my old castle sets. And I must admit it was not nearly as fun as putting them together. My new castle layout just takes up too much room to keep them all out any more.

Ben, only a sick person would try to collect these old sets MISB. :eyebrows:

Currently that is out of my budget. I have a few misb examples but far less than some castle collectors. Most fans including myself are likely missing rare packaging for sets such as 15, 6103 (Canadian version), etc.

Congrats! It's fun to collect old sets and I was also wondering if you got the instructions. Sure you can look them up online but when building new or old sets there's just something about being able to flip through the pages of an instruction booklet.

Pics or it didn't happen. ;)

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!
