Least favorite castle set

Post by Halberd777 »

Well I have not seen this thread since joining so I figured I would post this.

What is your least favorite castle set that you own? (Personal Opinion see below)

What is your least favorite castle set lego made? (Personal Opinion see below)

My least favorite set is Kingdoms Outpost Attack. This set has a standard catapult but just goes down from there. The Outpost does not really offer much protection and the collapsible wall is very annoying.

The least favorite castle set for I has got to be the Witch's Windship and I will never own it. Really come on a dragon flying a witch around in a ballon like device.

In terms of design, I have to agree that Witch's Windship is among the worst LEGO has ever designed, and as such it merits "least favourite" in my Castle collection. However, by the very fact that it is *in* my Castle collection, it's apparent I think it has a use... mostly that back in 1998, it was the only way I could get my hands on a green dragon--and I'm still glad I got the dragon, though the set itself is about as likely to be rebuilt as... erm... well, actually, it's kind of the Prime Example.

Coming up with a set that's not in my collection that's actually worse is proving impossible, so I can't give the title of "least favourite Castle set ever" to any set other than the same set as "least favourite set in my collection," so I'll just pick another "unfavourite Castle set."

8779 Grand Tournament (from the KK2 line) was only worth getting at a substantial discount, and even then only for parts. Horses on wheels in a jousting tournament? Really?

Well I hate to reply to my post so quickly but I fully agree with your opinion of Grand Tournament, Horses with wheels uhm :twitch: just wierd. You would think if they wanted to make make the regular horses move quicker they could have just put roller skates on them!

I'm right there with Formey. I used to think the windship was the worst, but at least it had good pieces. The Grand Tournament is the worst ever.

My least favorite has got to be 2848 Fright Knights Flying Machine http://guide.lugnet.com/set/?q=2848_1&v=z A guy on a rocket powered surf board thing reading a Cristal ball :o that makes even less sense than wheeled horses.

You people are completely missing the obvious.

Stupidest set ever are any af those KK2 maxifigs. or these things, assuming they even count....)

From what I can figure, the stupidest Castle set that I own, would have to be any of those KK2 maxifigs.

Lord of Orks: At least that set has a useful fig and some weapons.

I actually think this set is ok but I really don't see the use of the tower piece in it at all http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.as ... &catLike=W

As has already been mentioned I will NEVER own any of those KK2 large minifgs. They are truly awful!

I was going to say that I have to embarrassingly admit that I too have the 8779 Grand Tournament set, which I have to agree with others and say that this
is both the worst castle set put out, and the worst castle set I own. If it is any consolation is that I got the set bundled with a sword and shield....
(65642 Bonus Pack). I built the set when I first got it, and dont remember what happened to it. I love the foam sword and shield though...

I do recall having a discussion on it a little over a year ago:

I think I still stand by my vote of the Grand Tournament, with some close competitors.

Witch's Windship worst set? I would have said the Fright Knights Batwing Flyer was worse then that. At least the Witch's Windship had some parts I could use and a Dragon. The Batwing was a castle themed Jet Flyer. Really? A Jet does nto belong in a Castle theme ever IMO.

As for the worst set owned, that is harder because I came late to the party as they say and avoided a lot fo the bad sets thanks to reviews on the net. But I admit the set I disliked the most that I bought was the Grand Tournament. Yes, I admit I bought it from ebay as part of a lot with other sets. But I am glad I did not buy it "new" or at full price. :D

Unfortunately I came in to the Castle scene just exactly when KK2 came out... I wasted money (or should I say, begging mom for potential Christmas presents) on virtually the entire line, only to realize later that that line was actually the worst in existence. It pretty much blew my mind to see the vast difference from KK2 to the Fantasy Era, and since, I've sold almost all the minifigs from KK2, and eliminated any evidence of such from my collection (save that of Vladek's Ankorian Knights)... That 8779, my sister got for Christmas... no doubt the worst ever, I scrapped it for parts as soon as she stopped caring about it, which wasn't after very long. :?

I know I probably will get comments disagreeing with me and while I can imagine that I think I would pick the windship as being REALLY the worst, I didn't own it. So I pick this one:

King's Battle Chariot as the worst. Sure the figure were okay..if you are into the Fantasy Era which well I am not because I am a black falcon girl..but the build was lame. The cost of this set..too much for what you get. The pieces are not necessarily very useful. (Sure you got some dark blue there and we all would like more of the dark colors, but those pieces? I dunno.)

And most importantly...more wheels. I have so many LEGO wheels that I often think about starting about putting a handful in every box I send out for others to have the wheel curse. Think about it, just how many wheels does a castle person need?

I can't say there was much I like from this set at all...hence why I picked it as the worst. I am very happy that I was given this set and did not waste money on it.

I agree that it doesn't really make any sense but it had some very good parts. It was a cheap way to get the silver sword, which is probably one of my favorite weapons.
