Rare white foal...
Rare white foal...
I recently acquired a white and a black pony/foal, as well as a black polar bear on a well known internet auction site.
(brown foal shown for comparison)
I had been concerned that maybe they were painted, but after reassurances from the seller and additional photos (including the backstory of how they came to own them - short story is, they used to work in Billund HQ) I put in a bid, and now that I have them in my possession I can confirm that they are NOT painted, but are in fact moulded in black and white plastic.
Now obviously these parts where never in full scale production, and I know prototypes tend to be in black, red and white (which added to my assurance that they were potentially genuine before bidding) but my question is - Has anyone ever seen a pony/foal or bear in this colour before? I've had a search of various lego sites but haven't found anything else like it!

I don't recall ever seeing a pony/foal before.

In real lego or in general?

I think the Lego ponies were sold in some of the Lego Paradisa sets for girls.
You've got to ask yourself one question,"Do I feel lucky?" Well do ya, punk?

The brown pony (or foal) is quite rare. It only came in two paridisa sets; Country Club and Carriage Ride. These things go for about $10 - $25 on Bricklink. The black and white foals were never released in a set and could be prototypes or molds from one of the LEGOland parks. There is also the possibility that these are simply knockoffs produced by a clone brand. Look for markings which indicate that the pony is made by LEGO.

Yeah I made sure of that... they have the same markings of the regular brown pony. The short story is the seller use to work for TLG in Billund so I'm guessing they're prototypes (as red, white and black tend to be the prototype colours).Blueandwhite wrote:The black and white foals were never released in a set and could be prototypes or molds from one of the LEGOland parks. If that's the case; congrats! This is an incredible find. You now have what I consider to be possibly three of the coolest non-production pieces I've ever seen. Unlike the red, and black ghosts, these actually can be used quite well in MOCs and displays. The fact that as far as I know, nobody else has these elements makes them incredibly cool IMO. Even if you had to spend a small fortune to get them, they were definitely worth it.andhe wrote:Yeah I made sure of that... they have the same markings of the regular brown pony. Re: Rare white foal...
Thanks guys! Glad you like them.
(The seller, just for interest, was also selling a white scorpion, an orange dalmatian, an orange c-3po and a green dragon with green wings! Amongst other legoey things).
It wasn't extortionate... But I figure i'll always be able to make my money back if I decided to sell them because, to my knowledge, they are so rare. Assuming TLG doesn't do a Batman on me...!Blueandwhite wrote: The fact that as far as I know, nobody else has these elements makes them incredibly cool IMO. Re: Rare white foal...
I wish I could snag even a regular brown pony... And don't get me started on how cool a black bear would be.
