Faction Naming
We FOLs just love to name everything and organize it into a clear group, especially our Lego fiefs.
It seems like we've named all our factions with names a guy or two started using, then it stuck, like "crownies". Here, we can discuss what we think will become the names of the new factions. My bet's on the "Lion-hearts" and the "Chain Gang".

Re: Faction Naming
Well, to name the current Kingdoms Lions "Lion-hearts" would be a bit confusing as there was a early Lion shield design that did have hearts on it, but the set was not released(not sure on this) or was a promo set or pre-production set. "Chain Gang" is a little vague, you need to relate to the faction name more. For me personally Crown Knights I call Crown Knights, Kingdoms Lion Knights are just Lion Knights, Dragon Knights are Dragon Knights. It may be a bit bland to call them such but cute little nick names like "cow-pack" or "crownies" don't appeal to me. Who knows, people may call the Lions "red hots" and the Dragons "greenie meenies" or "chainies."

Re: Faction Naming
Lion Kingdom and Dragon Kingdom. Dragon Knights was already taken, and since the title of the theme is "Kingdoms" I think (Mascot)-kingdoms is fitting. But thats as far as current themes go.
As for earlier themes, I believe names have already been established.

I went a 180 from this. I figured the Dragon Knights are all still Dragon Knights. The Lion Knights are still Lion Knights. Maybe different times and eras but they are the same.OverLoad wrote:Lion Kingdom and Dragon Kingdom. Re: Faction Naming
I wasn't aware that "Dragon Knights" was already taken, really-- Which faction do you mean by "Dragon Knights"? Do you mean Black Knights? Or Dragon Masters? Personally, I've been going with "Green Dragons" for the new dragon faction...Hoboman wrote:... I figured the Dragon Knights are all still Dragon Knights. ...OverLoad wrote:... Re: Faction Naming
I've been calling them Kingdoms Knights and Dragon Knights. Not entirely accurate, especially for the Lion Faction, but it makes sense to me.

Re: Faction Naming
That was the faction I meant. But I still stand by my previous method of "Dragon Kingdom", "Lion Kingdom" and hopefully the new faction presented in the joust set can become the "Falcon Kingdom".davee123 wrote:Dragon Masters?

Hello!
It's not a custom made sticker but it stems from this cute little set: 1592

Re: Faction Naming
Thanks, Jojo, for the link. If I had known about that set when it came out (if even available in the states) I would have walked 1000 miles for it (being the first "Lion" faction and just getting into LEGO with minifigures). Luckily, I had the Yellow Castle and the Galaxy Explorer instead.Jojo wrote:Hello!

Hello!
This set 1592 first only was available as a limited Unilever (I think) special in the United Kingdom. However, in 1982 it became a catalogue set, also in the UK, named "Carnival Scene". Later on it was made available to customers of some toystore chains outside the UK, too (Vedes in Germany). That's where my mum picked it up by chance (and unaware of its rarity and specialness) in 1984(!) for my birthday, because the then new Black Falcon and "Crusader" sets became available only after my birthday. So I was lucky. However, if you didn't visit by chance this respective toy store you'd never have learned about this set until the internet age.

Back in 1980 hardly anybody knew about this set's existence. Lego used to have (and sometimes even nowadays has) this uncontrollable urge to hide their greatest gems from the general audience and only make it available to a very limited circle of hand-picked customers. I actually think they should see a shrink about this behaviour.Tower of Iron Will wrote:If I had known about that set when it came out (if even available in the states) I would have walked 1000 miles for it (being the first "Lion" faction and just getting into LEGO with minifigures).

That set was also released in The Netherlands. I have a Dutch version of the Fish and Chips sign.
I have that shield somewhereaswell. Think i might have the box or instructions or box cover somewhere aswell. As to how i got it? Probably "inherited" from an older relative. Pretty cool set.
