LEGO Ideas Book

Post by eilonwy77 »

The neighbor girl brought over her birthday present to show me today. It was the new LEGO Ideas Book. As I started looking at it, I was surprised to see that I "knew" (in the vague internet sense) 4 of the contributing fans. Two of them that I know come around Classic-Castle are AlienCat and SlyOwl. They all had 4-page spreads with pictures of their MOCs and brief interview questions. (I noticed that SlyOwl's Fairytale submission from last year's CCC was there.) I didn't have a chance to read it all, but it looked interesting, and I'll have to pester Haley to let me borrow her book again. Besides the pages about different fans, there were lots of pages about various techniques for building in the castle theme (and the other themes too, of course). Anyway, I found it a pleasant surprise and hope to look at it more thoroughly in the future.

Haley said she got it cheaper than the listed price at Barnes and Nobles website. That led me to look there, and I found this link to the product:

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/lego-id ... eas%2bbook

There are a few sample pictures, though not much from the castle section.

I was interested, so I thought I'd share. 8)

Not just that, I made all the models for the Castle section of the book, and SlyOwl made all the models for his section of the book ;)

Well, that just makes it all the cooler. I wondered about the rest of the models, but thought maybe some TLG employee had done them. It all looked fantastic. ;-)

I recently bought this book (for a great price from the book people) and let me just say that it is a joy to look at. Not only are the MOCs inspiring and well photographed the information and interviews are a real insight. It's great to be able to connect some of the MOCs and interviews to people on the forum.

Any idea if any of the AFOLs are on here?

Yep, I'm the guy that made the Castle chapter.

Barney Main is on these forums as well, under the handle SlyOwl, he made the Planes, Trains & Automobiles chapter.

You sneaky cat.....

Just how long did they have to keep you from spilling the beans about this, anyways? I bought this book last week, and was having a good time reading it, and then I found out who the builder was for the Castle section, and I was all  !
