Post by Phatmiata »

What happened to all of the "Kingdoms" Castle sets, they are all gone off Lego's website (save one) and I cannot find any in the stores!! Are they deleting the line again already? grrrrrr

I believe LEGO is paving the way for the 2012 line of Lord of The Rings sets, and thus is removing the Kingdoms line. Sad to see it go soon, but we'll get another line like it eventually.

I am not sure we ever got confirmation of that fact. I know its the rumor, but I have not heard any TLG representatives say that yet.

Well they do seem to be going after the movies lately, normally I would say a rumor like a LOTR Lego set would be hogwash, but It could be possible with the Hobbit movie coming out soon.

Might want to check out this topic. The news has been official for a while.
You would rather be building right now.

I started looking for Kingdoms sets the 27th of December and the shelves were almost bare of Legos at Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, and Fleet Farm. And the only castle set Mall of America had at the Lego store was Medieval Market Village. At least I managed to pick up the last Blacksmith Attack and a Kings Carriage for 20% off at Fleet Farm. ~KnightMan~

I thought that was a joke until i copy pasted that link TheLordoftheRings.LEGO.com

This will one of the the most expensive years in Lego history for me, Marvel and DC comics and now LOTR? Ill have to get a second job to keep up with this stuff!

I know it's not official, and part of me doesn't want to accept it is true, but evidence is clearly pointing to the worst. Toy Fair pictures have shown LOTR sets yet no Kingdoms sets, we have yet to hear any rumors of Kingdoms sets, and to kick it all off we got an exclusive set.

Although, I'm merely speculating. And I presume from your original post that you'd like me to keep the speculating on the low side, so I'd like to add that I am merely theorizing, and I do not know of TLG's intent regarding this issue yet, nor do I claim to know such information.

Well from a business point of view it would make sense to just have LotR, because if you had LotR and Kingdoms on the same shelf Lego probably wouldn't get their moneys worth out of the LotR license. So sadly Kingdoms is probably done unless Lego makes another exclusive or two. ~KnightMan~

LOTR LINE???? THAT WOULD BE AWESOME - as long as it isn't going to be in that craptastic flesh color... I swear if they ruin another potentially great line with FLESH again I am going to slam my head against the wall uber hard. Lego and their lust to rid the world of purists...

On that note, time to scoop up as many of those Kingdoms torsos and such on Bricklink before they're all gone!

It's flesh. We have a thread entitled "LOTR Lego" in the Castle Sets forum to discuss it.

Haha perhaps I have been, I've not checked anything but Bricklink. Anyways, based on the photos in the other thread, it doesn't look like there are yet a very good assortment of figures from the LOTR line... I know it's just a preview, but I'm skeptical that LOTR would be a suitable replacement for Kingdoms... maybe from a business stand point, but from a collector's point? Torsos in bulk might not be cheap any more... :( I really hope they bring out a set or two with numerous, less faction-specific minifigs!
