Best Castle?

Post by cheeso194 »

I've been shopping around for a good Castle, as I never really had one as a kid. What would you say is the best Castle, construction wise or price wise?

The best castles IMO are Royal Knight's Castle and Black Knight's Castle. You'll get them for way less than 100 euros on Bricklink which is less than a castle nowadays when it comes out, I believe both are worth the money. The castle from the last Kingdoms line wasn't so bad either, it doesn't compare to the old sets but you might find it cheap, I know someone who picked it up for 55 euros recently.

oo black knights castle is a classic, if you can get that in a resonable price it is definately worth the money.
Kingdoms kings Castle is great too, I have two of them and I have bought them both on over 50 % of sales. They are brick worth castles if you can still find it on a sale somewhere.

I found the Kingdoms castle pretty cheap, about 65 bucks, so I might go for that one. I also found this castle http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=10176-1 for around 53 dollars. Is that one any good?

It's up to you really; that one looks like it has an adequate amount of useful parts, but IMO (and I've found a lot of people think the same way about this) those minifigs are some of the most uninspired castle figures Lego ever produced. I have two of those raised baseplates however and find myself almost always using them when building anything from terrain to raised castles, I know a lot of people don't like them and tbh I liked the castles on this type of raised baseplates less too but the baseplate itself is absolutely *great* if you can find the right uses for it.

I didn't really like the build of the Kingdom's Castle - the gatehouse was great but everything from there was downhill and repetitive. I prefer the King's Castle Siege from the more modern castles (I don't have any of the older ones).

If you're looking for a great set for MOCCIng though the Kingdoms Joust actually has a great selection. It's also a great build and looks awesome on display if that is what you're looking for.

yes the joust is absolutely awesome and beutiful as it is but as I think it has a lot of great parts to use. But and a big one :) Kingdoms Joust is exclusive and very expensive. And that it is a Lego exclusive it is hard (or impossible)to find it else where than Legoshops.

Royal Knights Castle is full of useful parts. I was building with the pieces not too long ago and theirs a great selection of 1x2s and other common pieces. King's Castle also is a pretty good set too except the multiple wall pieces.

I think the Joust is a good one plus its actually sort cheap, 7.62 cents a piece but still not as good as MMV which is 6.25 cents a piece, but both of them are still a lot better than the usual 10 cents a piece. ~KnightMan~

Yeah I actually just ordered Royal Knight's Castle, I've wanted it for what seems like forever ^^ I don't think it's going to get recycled for parts fast, I'm more interested in trying to improve it / adding to it.

yes Knightman, brickwise it is cheap per brick and it has SO many useful bricks and non big wall parts. But looking just at the price it isn't or the US is diffrent because we can consider the price we say here in Finland for it or when we order it from online Lego. It is 139 euros and that is in dollars maybe 154. Compering that to the 119 dollars on the US Lego site Then it is expensive. But thats the taxrate here.

The older castles are better in my opinion. The Black Knight's castle is, unfortunately, too expensive for me. I would suggest getting the Royal Knight's castle if you want an older type of castle or the Kingdoms Joust if your looking for a newer type.
You've got to ask yourself one question,"Do I feel lucky?" Well do ya, punk?

I would recommend the Royal Knights Castle too. I just got it yesterday and, as someone who started buying just as all castle / ninja sets were making way for KKI and was stuck with King Leo's Castle I (I bought it twice and still didn't have enough bricks to build a sizeable castle!) I was amazed by how long it took to put it together compared to that castle - because it's just ridiculously huge! And it has a lot of unique or rare parts, too.
