Nice, I like the Uruk-Hai and the Helm's Deep set above all. The others seem well-made, I'm probably not going to buy them (don't have the room or funds to start another faction) but I'm interested in what other people are going to do with them. I still can't believe this actually happened, you know I was actually thinking Lego should do this the same day I found out they were! That's was just weird :spin:

I've been a Tolkien fan since I could first read. Interesting assortment and figure layout. In order to assemble the 9 Walkers, you will have to buy nearly every set... which also means I will need 9 Riders, and then there is the army of Orcs AND Uruk-Hai, Riders and men of Rohan....
This is going to keep me busy for a while. :D

I know this thred hasn't bean alive in a whille but i'de like to give my opinion on these lovely new set. :tasty:
Just look at the printing on this guy in the Helm's Deep set. I think it is one of the best figures lego has ever released.

There is actually another variation of the fig with different helmet printing here
I totaly agree that this is the best fig lego has ever relesed. Unfortunetly I don't think a can afford this set  I might have to order one from Bricklink. (sigh)

Other sets i like ar http://www.flickr.com/photos/fbtbnet/68 ... 292529287/This is a awsome set. It has four more ork to (the better ones from my point of view) Also it has two soldgers and the wall can be added to join with Helms Deep(which i aprove with). Just to finish of with this set is it has a great build. For all this set has the $40 will be worth it.

Another set i really like is http://www.flickr.com/photos/fbtbnet/68 ... 9292574281 this I manly like becasue of the black riders. The build is also pritty cool, but its manly the rider. I'm just sad that theres not three of them :(

All in all these new set are supper awsome cool and i want them all :tasty:

I'm going to have to revise my opinion on getting these sets - Shelob, Gandalf's Cart, the Weathertop, the Uruk attack and Helm's Deep are slowly sneaking onto my wish list. The main drawback was the peach figs, but now I guess I could use them to develop my High Elf faction! I'll decide after I've given these figs a closer look, 'cos parts-wise I can tell it should be okay.

I am sorry, but does anyone else not think that these sets are completely watered down? And no, I'm not really talking about how you can "never recapture the imagination of the movie", which is true for all licensed sets. With LOTR specifically, I am talking about the distilled piece counts, combined with the inflated prices, and an overall lack of a finalized product with the biggies. I mean, did anyone else expect just a sliiiighly larger cart with Gandalf? And the castle with no back? Or how about how the Castle line's "Dwarves Mine" from 07' almost doubles the size of the [extremely similar] Orc Forge? Although I admire aspects of the characters and sets like Attack on Weathertop and Mines of Moria, then I see Uruk-hai Army and ask myself "why is that wall half the size of a normal castle wall?" Not to go on a rant here [too late], but it feels like there were hefty corners cut, and if that means lower piece count to the point of a near 50% mark up, then a vote for closing stores instead of expanding them, and saying goodbye to licensed sets...it's time for a Legolution!

yeah, I'm really not impressed with the sets. The Battle of Helm's Deep and the ork forge are probably going to be the only ones I get, the others seam way over priced.

Are you guys joking? The price per piece ratio is way better than kingdoms was. I believe only two of the sets are over the 10 cents a piece mark, where as with kingdoms half the sets were. The reason they may look small is because they are all built of small pieces, which if I am not correct is what nearly everybody on this forum have been begging TLG for. I always hear complaints about the BURP's and LURP's and giant pieces TLG use, now your complaining that it's not big enough? Then what do you expect from them!? :?

It may not be closer to the classic castle sets that some want, but most MOCers should love this. I say that if this was a non liscenced line, it would have a lot better reception here.

Thank you Alex the Great for bringing that up, I wholeheartedly agree. I don't see what you all are complaining about either.
You would rather be building right now.

Those look awesome. I'm definitely going to need Helms deep and about 3 copies of the Uruk-hai Army :)

No, I saw the movie and the cart is pretty much the same size it was in the movie.
