Re: BOOM! "The Hobbit" Minifigs Revealed!!
Thanks for the HI-res pics of the minifigures Azaghal. You can definitely tell that Bombor's beard/hair piece is closer to a clamshell piece that covers the entire front of the torso with the colors painted on. Looks to be a dark orange piece with the other colors added. Very limited use, but not surprising for a licensed theme. I really hope the torso prints for Balin and Dwalin are without flesh prints so that they are more useful. Here's to hoping the rest of the dwarves are made.

I wasn't expecting to see "yooper" in this discussion, but you are right. Looks like he's ready for deer season.Azaghal wrote:I've never liked the "Yooper" look for Bofur, but at least his head and torso look fairly generic. Actually, all of the Dwarf torsos we can see look fantastic.
Anyway, I expect that parts from these figures, when combined with parts from the dwarven mine and collectible minifigure dwarf, will allow people to mix and match a large number of unique looking dwarves. Should be perfect.

Re: BOOM! "The Hobbit" Minifigs Revealed!!
These look very cool and as other said useful parts for combo use.
If shown the knife to Bombor´s hair/beards "belly" piece, would it work or would it ruin the whole part
If all these figs are in one set, it will probably be one of the more expensive ones.
We here in Finland havn´t gotten the 1 wave of LOTR sets yet but I am already waiting for the next wave and Hobbit wave so far looks promising

Bombor appears to have a flesh-colored bald spot on his head, which makes him a lock for inclusion in, "minifigs I sell to help pay for the set". Blech.
Re: BOOM! "The Hobbit" Minifigs Revealed!!
Looks like his belly is attached to his beard which equals double 'bleh' for me.AK_Brickster wrote:Bombor appears to have a flesh-colored bald spot on his head, which makes him a lock for inclusion in, "minifigs I sell to help pay for the set". Blech.

Wow guys, that's just one element out of hundreds.
However, that is one problem with licensed themes. You get a lot of parts that are very specific.

Am I not allowed to not like one element? I wasn't speaking of anything other than the single piece.rogue27 wrote:Wow guys, that's just one element out of hundreds.

Is it just me or does it look Bombors hair piece is separate from the beard. If its separate hopefully LEGO will release the hair piece with a yellow spot so that we can use it for a monk.

I have two of Arealight's hair/beard pieces like this (white and brown), but the one aspect of both her design and this new Lego piece is that too much forehead is showing IMO. Otherwise, this new LEGO hair'beard design looks awesome.Quickblade22 wrote:Balin's reminds me of the hair beard combo Arealight once produced and it'd be great it that piece shows up in other themes in different colors.

I agree, too much forehead. I feel the same about the "highlander hair" also. Just a tad too much forehead. It is compatible w the standard "Merlin" beard though, I've discovered.

As I posted in the Bag End set thread...
I will find uses for all of the new hair and beard styles that will be coming out in the Hobbit sets. The variety for all 13 dwarves is going to be stunning.
The thing I find most useful is the new torsos! Even though we now have gotten some peasant torsos to work with, civilian clothing is still a rarity in the castle era. So far I have only been working with blacksmiths, peasant garb from the MVR and MMV, royal clothing, some jedi torsos, and a few from other themes. The torsos on the dwarves come in a variety of colors and look perfect for merchants or adventuring types. Best of all they are generic and have no crests on them. I just hope they don't have a whole lot of flesh showing so they can be used with my other castle figs.
It is too bad Bilbo's torso has a large patch of flesh on it. That would be a useful torso as well.

I feel a bit like Beorn waiting to see what and how many we are in for. A party it seems.

I think it was probably designed to do this - as I recall, the first appearance of that hair was for Dumbledore in the first Harry Potter sets, which used them together.AK_Brickster wrote:I agree, too much forehead. (And I completely agree with the "forehead" thoughts.)
