Mike Crowley, Count Blockula

Post by Bruce N H »

Hi all,

I opened the Brothers-Brick this morning to read Plums' post about Mike Crowley, aka Count Blockula. So sad to hear this news. I'll post more thoughts on the front page.

Very sad. I haven't had much, if any, contact with him for several years, but we'd chat almost nightly in the chatroom, while I was in school. I still remember some goofy chat about a three hour winnebago tour, ala Gilligan's Island.

He was a load of fun and a great guy.

Bieng relatively new to the community I never got a chance to meet or interact with him, but after having read an interview with him and looking at his work I was blown away by his creatvity and love of the community. He seemed to take great pleasure in interacting with fans and the community. His work was amazing and looked ahead of its time. :(

Caylin's words are perfect. Mike was incredible. He brought a smile even in word form. Mike knew how to make happy thoughts from any situation. I wish I knew how he did it, so that all of the sadness that is being felt by his passing, could be replaced by the pure joy that was Mike.

It has been a tough year for the AFOL community, for sure. Prayers going out to Mike's friends and family right now.

Sad to hear about this. Although I didn't know him personally, I knew of him through the stories of friends here on Classic-Castle. I remember his work being some of the first that I saw when discovering the online community. My condolences go to those of you that knew him and enjoyed the positive presence and impact he had on your lives.

Even though I did not know Mike personally, when one fan of the brick passes, the entire community feels the loss. Rest in peace, Mike.

I didn't knew Mike personally, but I do remember him as a great builder. The large Star Wars figures he made were very impressive all those years ago and still are.

My condolences to his family, 36 is indeed way too young.
