The Blitz'ard -- Mosaic

Post by eilonwy77 »

I haven't built anything very castle-y for awhile, but I made a castle-y sort of divining room for the Urtican Blitz'ard.

Here's a model of the bear casting bones to divine the future:

What I really love, of course, is making the mosaics. Here is a photo of the mosaic by itself:

I wrote up a small step-by-step instruction on how I came up with the mosaic and the lighting. If you were curious, you could read about it on MosaicBricks.

Cheers, and happy building! 8)

Hoping you'll stay on your castley roll and build something for the upcoming LCC global challenge! I have a feeling it's going to give you a chance to build something right up your alley ;)

Your mosaics never cease to amaze me, the shapes you achieve with LEGO just blow me away.
The lighting in this particular MOC has quite the effect!

Love the lighting effect. Is it a black light or just back lit?

@Soccerkid6 -- thank you! I appreciate it. :D

@Dog Ironbones -- Yes, there are black lights. The black lights make the trans-medium blue pieces glow. I thought they'd make the regular white pieces glow, too, but they didn't. I had four black lights (two underneath, two on the sides), a red light underneath and farther away, a blue light behind the wall, and an overhead light on in a nearby closet. For the bear photo, I waved a flashlight over the bear's head, too. I really need to get a tripod so that I'm not having to prop my camera up and hold my breath and hold it still for the longer exposures while trying to wave lights around in my other hand... One of these days!
