CC Winter Draft *Update* Signup Closed
Well It is that time.
Time for the Next draft!! As has been discussed by the previous members of previous drafts this is the "Winter Quarter Draft".
The purpose of this thread is to sign up participants. Once participants are chosen and order set, "ALL" communications regarding trades and general chatter "WILL", move to the flickr Draft group and this thread will be locked after the conclusion of the draft. I think however it would garner more interest in the drafts to post pics of the final loot piles before this thread will be locked. This is why I ask however that "ALL" discussion on this draft by those who are members of this draft, "WILL" take the discussion to flicker to keep this thread clear of unnecessary chatter.
All others interested in this draft or future drafts can ask questions pertaining to the draft or its process until the thread is locked.
Now that I have covered that, "Welcome Friends" to the Winter Classic Castle Draft!

Thank you to AK_brickster, AKA Jordan for organizing the drafts to begin with. These are a fun way to get parts you may be looking for from current sets.
You MUST send sets to me for sorting and pay for shipping Back to you when this draft is complete; or Paypal me the funds to purchase your set, and include shipping in the paypal payment to ship set back to you when this draft is complete.
I want to start the draft by March 1st and have it concluded be April 1st, With shipping of draft picks taking place the first week of April.
I'm going to limit this to people who are well-established CC members (at least 100 posts). If you have fewer and are interested please contact me so a decision can be made to allow you in as an alternate. Also we have quite a few members under 16 who may want to join, I have no problems drafting with you, however If your under 16 I need your parents permission for you to join
Also I am not opposed to international members wanting to join, but just remember it can be expensive to ship overseas.
General Rules:
1 - Snake style draft (1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-1-2-3....until the last lot has been picked)
2 - Fig parts are split up (all of "Fig A"s torsos in one pile, all of "Fig B"'s hair in another pile, etc)
Exception to this is if as in the case with the last draft there are torso's and skirt pieces that Must go together
3- Any Sets of parts that are unbalanced due to part cost or Rare figure, etc. will be voted on best way to split said lot
4- This is to be fun, Don't bicker or be overly obstinate if the group votes differently than you'd like in a split of the lots. Classic Castle is allowing us to use the forum to Sign Up participants to get Members involved at any time we can Lose this privilege, an I for one don't want to burn any Bridges
5- Order of draft pulls will be determined by a random number Generator Once Signup has closed.

It is the "Mirkwood Elf Army" Perfect to help build my, I mean a forest-men army, lol...
The set Retails for $30, and has 276 Pieces, 6 minifigs, a brown warg and some very nice elements.

I'm not sure yet if I'll participate, but thank you for stepping up to run this quarter's draft.
What are your plans if more than 10 people sign up? Will there be a lottery between qualified applicants? Seems like a good thing to decide beforehand

Yes AK if there are more then 10 I will use a random number generator to get the participants chosen. I know there has been a fair amount of intrest sparked. If you like I will set you as an alternate. I will update list tonight.

actually things are complicated... it seems that if more then 8 people sign up, there will be a lottery to choose participants (highly disappointing to me)... with 11 more days to go there will be a lot of names (I think) that will get added to the list.... I missed the lottery thing when I first threw my name into the hat (not sure if it came from an edit or it was there before). i was kinda hoping that seeing the list fill up fast the draft might start sooner....SSchmidt wrote:Oh man, how did I miss signing up for this? Ok Guys I have Updated the rules and signup above. Sorry for any and all confusion, this is my first time organizing an event such as this. My Wife Falsusnominatim has pointed out to me that I should go to my original plan of Closing sign-up, when all spots have been reached. Mostly because I am making my self go gray trying to please myself to be fair to everyone.
I would like to open it to discussion on how to best approach the Signup process For future drafts; especially when it seems we have been generating so much interest in doing these. I want to be fair to myself, those hosting the drafts, and all those interested in participating in future drafts.
So I open this to discussion.
So what system do you guys think will be best for all who want to participate in the future.
Would a lottery system be preferred, Or should it be left at first come first serve? What do you all think.
Honestly I didn't think I would have as mush interest as there is As Quick as there was!

I think for the future it'd be good to post heads up that a draft will occur and sgnups will open at a particular point in time and then do x + y alternates
