Weekly Set Review: Catapult Crusher

Post by architect »

Join the weekly Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’s set is 6032 Catapult Crusher.

Catapult Crusher was released in 2000 for the Bulls. This catapult has large wooden wheels. It comes with stones to shoot, one Bull soldier, and various weapons.

This set isn't that good of one. While it has a better parts selection than some others of the KKI line, it is a sloppy design. The one thing that saves it is the parts that are in it - the set has a good variety of them - the "wheels", the weapons, and the horse helmet in particular.

Parts 6/10
Design 3/10
Playability 4/10

Overall score: 4/10

It's hard to call this catapult "State of the art design". The minfig is probably the best thing about this set. The wheels as in all the bulls war machines are too bulk. The catapult got no sense of balance at all, when you try to shot with it, it falls to one side. Don't have much else to say about it, really a set for collectors only, otherwise it's a waste of money.

Final Score: 4/10

I love this set. Even thought it does not have much play ability by it's self.

The big, heavy wheels are ok for a catapult ... BUT:

Unnecessary model, juniorized.

1/10 because of old grey.

Halbred,Spear,Shield,Sword 2 crossbows... nice lil armory, now only if they had 2 more figures to help out. I don't mind the look of it (Do miss the old wheels though).

7/10

Not many catapults has a good playability by them selves, this one even less so...

I really do'nt know about this one, I'm generaly not a very big fan of the KKI-models, although they were the thing that got me out of my DA:s, I like the wheels and I'm happy that the Vladek-Attack-Kit has the same. As for the rest that are a lot of weapons for just one soldier...

I like the design of the catapult so let's say 5/10 very average, nothing special here.

I like this set. It comes with really nice pieces and the minifigure is also good. The design of this set isn't really good, but there have been worse catapults.

design: 6/10
figs: 8/10
pieces: 8/10
playability: 8/10

overall a 7.5 for this set

Well I buyed this set quite some times and now I have really much weapons. You should try to make something else with the catapult tough, it doesn't fire well. The bull soldier is one of my most favorite figures and the crome sword is a really good thing about this set, but playability is low because you can't make much from it or do much with it if you only have that set to play with.
6.5/10
*And the bulls arrive in kk2*
Cedric the bull: "Hahaha Leo we're here to- wtf?"
*and the bulls see some happy knights bouncing at each other with carts*
Cedric (shocked): "I guess we got the wrong KK''
Bull soldier (frightened): "Lets go back"

I don't like this set as a whole, but I like the fig and the fact that there are multiple weapons and the fact that he has a shield (unlike other sets we know).

I like this set, it has some good peices. The only problem with it, is it needs another minifig to help with the re-loading. if you look at other sets, they usely have two minifigs. and it's a good set for thoes four brown wheels :-)

I've never owned any of the Bulls or the KKI stuff. For some reason I don't feel left out.... not a very big fan of these sets.

IMO there is only one good piece and its the horse helmet thingie on the front.

I love this set for some reason. Wonderful pieces, and though the design is not the best, there are pieces to build a better one. I like the fig too, he looks like he means business, whereas the kk2 knights are just like "would you like some cheese?"

I dislike the 1-piece catapult arm. It's completely useless for anything but catapults, and maybe scooping ice cream.

I think those thick round brown parts make poor wheels, but I like the part in general. They can make a good tree trunk.

The figure is nice, but it does get redundant when half of your minifig population is wearing an eyepatch. Wolfpack had that problem too.

Most of the parts in the set, aside from the ice cream scooper, look like they are useful. If I was not in my Dark Age while this set was available, I would have bought a couple if TLG priced it well.

As usual, I'm not going to make up some arbitrary number rating for this set, but let's assume I would rate 6030 Catapult around 8. This bull catapult would rate lower than that.
