Bound: the Contest
Monitogo Studios is producing Bound, a full length castle-themed brickfilm, and YOU can get involved. Greg Tull, the director, and his team have asked us to help create the background for this scene (see a large version of this picture here):
Here's all you have to do:
1. Create an all-LEGO scene (non-LEGO sky backdrop is okay) that can be digitally inserted into the stop-motion image above. What are these guys riding past? Could it be some old ruins? A spooky forest? Distant mountains? Watch the trailer and read the synopsis for inspiration, but be creative. The scene should NOT include figures or animals, as it will be a static scene. The foreground section is 90 studs wide, so ideally your backdrop will be similar in size (smaller scenes could be stretched to fit, but it would probably look bad). Microscale and forced perspective are fine, but they should fit in as a backdrop to the provided foreground image.
2. Post as large an image as you can to Flickr or some other publicly available site. Greg asks for images at least 1920x1080 in size, but bigger and higher resolution is better. Ideally the lighting of the background should be similar to the provided foreground image.
3. Post a link to the larger image and a smaller image fitting forum guidelines in THIS thread by Sunday October 5 (midnight US EST).
Greg will pick his top three, and a forum poll will determine the winner. The winning image will be included in Bound: the Movie, and the builder will be included in the credits. Greg will also send the winner an autographed copy of the movie.
--
Update: Since admins and mods are not involved in the judging for this (Greg and then a vote of all in the community will pick the winner) I think it's only fair that there are no restrictions on who can enter. Admins and mods, let's see what you can do on this one!

Everyone do keep in mind that if there are no suitable options we'll be back to creating this ourselves... *sniff I'm really hoping to feature someone else's awesome work!
Animate it.
Re: Bound: the Contest
Just watch the trailer and it looks great. Some real humour in their, and it's always fun to try and see what parts/pieces have been used (even saw some brickwarrior ranger helms creeping in at the end).
My skills unfortunately don't extend far enough to enable me to enter the competition but look forward to seeing the final product.

Hmm I'm really going to have to muscle down and finish mine. Sadly I'm only half way done. Hope I have time to finish it.Mudskipper wrote:Time is creeping up. No pressure, but I'd love to see someone's awesome work featured!

Re: Bound: the Contest
Sorry to double post but for the entries would it be better to have a sky in the back ground or have it white so one can be cropped in?

Purple Wolf - white is ideal. We'll insert the sky; no worries.

Re: Bound: the Contest
So you all know - if you can keep your entry together until after the contest ends, that would be good! We'll discuss the best perspective to shoot the background plate for us at that time. Thanks everyone!

Re: Bound: the Contest
Alright everyone, SO sorry for letting this fall behind. I've been doing 70 hour weeks in a crazy effort to wrap up Bound. Now around to this! We have 3 entries, so automatically three selections! Therefore, it will be up to the forum to poll a winner, and then we'll get final photography and insert this baby.
Bruce, any ideas on how to best drum up more attention about this?
Thanks so much everyone!
