Castle goes to Space winners!

Post by Bruce N H »

Hi all,

We are very pleased to congratulate the winners of the Castle goes to Space contest. Since we had enough entries there were two prizes, and we divided these up between the best "Castle turned Space" entry and the best "Space turned Castle" entry.

Leopold took top spot for her "Castle turned Space" entry, taking set 7079, Drawbridge Defense and turning it into Attack on Space Priestess Base. She wins a copy of 70806, Castle Cavalry.

Soccerkid6 came out on top for "Space turned Castle", taking set 5980, Squidman's Pitstop and turning it into Mitgardian Smithy. He wins a copy of Great LEGO Sets: A Visual History.

Be sure to check out all of the great entries. This contest turned out to be a lot of fun. Thank you to all who participated, and especially congratulations to the winners.

Congratulations!!! :-)

It was hard for me to find a personal favorite but my secret "winner" has been Leopolds MOC for it's sleek design.

Must have been very difficult for the judges to decide on a winner.

I think because of the imaginative design the MOC to general grievous wheel bike would have been my space turned medieval winner.

Can you give us any insight into the judging process? I'm just curious as it would have been more of a gut instinct for me with all these great entries!

Loved that contest and I'm looking forward to the next one! Believe it or not I wanted to build something for quite some time now and I wouldn't have started building anything without this contest here ^^

It's always fun to speculate on who's going to win. Especially when you get one right. :eyebrows: As mentioned up above, I would be interested to know how the judging was scored. For example, was there a criteria on how easily it was to identify what Lego set was being Spacified or Spastled?

Hey,

We never go through all of the scores, but I would point you to the original announcement, especially point 7: "7. Judging will take into account both how well your modified set fits the original and how well it fits into its new theme." Judging LEGO creations is never an exact science, and there is always subjectivity involved. There were many great entries, and it was a hard decision, but these two came out on top as the consensus picks of the judges.
