I love it! Very unique; you have definitely captured the "rough feel". How 'bout a close-up of the stained-glass windows?

The idea of mottling and the execution available with Lego are two things that don't meet easily. Basically, the value change is too stark (I'm using the world "value" to mean relative light and dark). It's done as good as you can, but the medium itself is not conducive to great results. A noble and well-done effprt, nevertheless.

The one thing I would change is the pre-mottled corner castle wall. It's style of rounded corners clashes with the exacting corners of the actual brick.

:P Thanks to all!

There seems to be two distinct groups, those who like the mottled effect because of the 'weathered' look and those who don't like it because of the 'busy' look!

I admit the wall does looks a bit cluttered in the photos, but actually I think it looks better in person.

Alas, it had already has met the fate of my other MOCs, the sorting pile!

I don't favor the busy look myself. But as TTK says the mottling effect shouldn't be abandoned. I wonder, how about mixing old and new light grey for the effect, without the big contrast...
