LEGO has revealed a large (4800+ pieces!) direct to consumer set for the upcoming Ninjago movie:

Definitely one of the less castle-friendly Ninjago sets, but undeniably awesome. It's somewhat similar to the modular buildings. Check out the interior:

I love the shops and the tunnel for the boat at the bottom. So many great details! 16 minifigures!
This just shot to the top of my want list. Ninjago has been really strong lately. I don't even collect Ninjago, but I've recently bought several sets because they are typically the best looking thing on the shelf whenever I walk into a store. Even so, nothing could have prepared me for this. It might be the most amazing LEGO set yet.

Aye, that is one awesome set, although I almost like the new Destiny's Bounty just as much or better (and it's more castle like). However for me Ninjago has always been my favorite theme, except maybe castle, so that's different: though the theme has had some down points. Personally I don't quite like the look of the movie though, so I was impressed with those sets regardless! A tad expensive though, to put it mildly .

The crowbar roof technique is amazing!
Re: Ninjago City
Oh, wow, I hadn't even noticed that before. There is so much detail packed into every little nook and cranny on this set. I'm sure I could spoil myself on pictures all day and still find some surprises when I actually sit down to build it.AK_Brickster wrote:The crowbar roof technique is amazing!
Destiny's Bounty is also awesome. I might even break my "no ships" rule to buy one, but Ninjago City definitely fits better into my collection. It reminds me of some crowded cyberpunk city, but with ninjas.josdu wrote:Aye, that is one awesome set, although I almost like the new Destiny's Bounty just as much or better (and it's more castle like). I disregarded Ninjago when it first came out due to the spinning figures thing, and didn't look at it seriously until I bought Temple of Airjitzu last year. Don't know the story at all, but these upcoming sets have sparked my interest in the movie. I'm really liking the weird mix of technology and mythology. Reminds me of video games like Ninja Gaiden. Probably not going to start collecting the series, but I'll definitely continue picking up the sets that catch my eye. Their design team is doing a fantastic job.
As for the price, I think $299 is pretty good for the number of parts and figures, but it's still a lot of cash to fork out. Especially since I want four of these. (I probably won't.)

Re: Ninjago City
I think this set is going to win the 'Most colours used in a single set' award. I feel it is a bit too colourful to really pick out the details at first, but once one can look past it, there are an amazing amount here. And is that a new fence piece I see?
Price range is too much for me (but with that many parts, wow!) but would love to actually see it in the brick.

Yea, looks like a new Asian themed wrought iron railing, and there's a bunch of it in the set.
Galidor fan...
Some nice civilian Asian themed minifigs.
I may have to beg for this set...

LEGO has also revealed a medium (1200+ pieces!) set for the Ninjago movie:
Ninjago Quake Mech on Ninja Brick
The set brings the mech suit in a wonderful, realistic manner that is true to the movie and looks very fun to look at and play with. The unicycle mech is very posable, with hidden “soundwave” missiles and much more. This has been my favorite movie in some time, and this set looks like an awesome addition. Hopefully my wife gets my Christmas present right
