One Time Daily Set Review: King Leo's Keychain

Post by architect »

Join the one time daily Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

Today’s set is 3923 King Leo’s key chain.

King Leo’s key chain, currently available for $2.99 in the US, is the only Knight’s Kingdom key chain. It features King Leo and a metal chain. I hope none of you are taking this seriously :D

This is a great one! The parts selection is terrific....if you put enough of the metal chains together, you get a longer metal chain! How can you beat that? You also get an awesome Sean Connery minifig for all those First Knight MOC's...one problem though, where is the Richard Gere fig with gerbil accessory?
Trevor

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

I didnt like this set as it was very hard to build alternate models. it required the use of pliers and tin snips and a rubber chicken, which as you know is hard to find from the lego company...

This set was great for short play sessions while waiting for the light to turn green. I got one for every one of my cars.

Although I am a fan of castle key chains and own some, this is one of the ugliest castle key chains ever, in my opinion. A common soldier or knight would have been much better.

Alas,

This is one of the few sets I don't own, the price per piece ratio just didn't meet my standards. As has been said the glaring lack of alternate models and the need for non-lego parts to complete the model definitly works to this sets disadvantage. I would have to pass on this set if it ever appeared in a retail outlet. 1/10

Bad news: serious reply! 8)

Since the Downtown Disney Lego Store is within fairly easy driving distance, I see the keychains all the time. They last maybe a year. I've worn out several Majistos, a Darth Vader (the cape gets shredded fast), Santa, and I'm currently wearing the black printing off the face of a Stormtrooper keychain. Perhaps if you don't have change in your pocket along with your keys - or preferably no keys on your keychain - these might last longer. But I crack hands, rip off legs, and even lose arms, not to mention wear down any printing fast. If you approach these as a pleasure of an ephemeral nature (such as a sandcastle that washes away with the tide) and like a high turnover rate, they are kinda fun. If you expect them to last in pristine shape - don't actually attach them to a keychain!

Your actual mileage may differ - I drive my miata notoriously fast around corners, whacking the heck out the poor keychain guy.

Humm...

* Overall Model:

Parts Selection: 0
Explanation: Simply, no parts, no selection.

Color Scheme: .2
Explanation: Well... The figure does have some nice colour.

Function: 2.0
Explanation: It does function perfectly for what it is supposed to be.

Alternate Models: 0.000001
Explanation: Perhaps if you take your tools and mangle Leo's face, you can make an interesting alternative model.

Model score = 2.200001/10 :p

Oh wow! My favorite all time set! This is the set that brought me out of my dark age! Nothing compares to King Leo on a chain! (I think I will start yelling enthusiastically now) AWESOME! THE CHAIN IS SO SHINEY! THE CROWN IS SO GOLDEN! THE FACE IS SO SEAN CONNNERYISH! THE THE HANDS ARE SO YELLOW! (I too hope that no one takes this post of mine seriously) :D

Don't fly with it

Well, the ariport security turned me away with this one -- missed the M-60 Fuse Ignitor though, ah well. Too pointy or something like that.

Hey, what can I say -- not a big key chain fan. Problem is you can't really use this in a MOC -- less there be regicide afoot -- out out Megablocks spots! However, my kids do love the keychains so who the heck am I to complain.

TSA: "Thut looky kind o' sharpy there sonnah"
Me: "Silence! I shall king you!"

**sounds of scuffle, thudding, yelps of pain**

Airline; "we're sorry to announce our flight to Washington, DC has been cancelled .... again ..."

And so on.

Ah well
;)

Bleh! There is no Majisto Key chain (well there might be, but the currently available one certainly is not! He lacks the peasant torso and sportsa plain blue one. There is no cape what so ever. I hate that Wizard he is an imposter!

I always thought the keychains were kinda cute. But not for anything I would ever use them for. As has already been stated, they dont' last long in that pocket... Oh well, I do have the Star Wars keychains, but I exuse those becouse they are needed to compleat that collection. I also dont like LEO! I seem to see him everywhere I turn these days.
