Thats good, because the good guys are Bloom who becomes a knight and DEFENDS Jerusalem from another Crusader army.

Many knights of earlier Crusades and/or those who were captured by the Arabs ended up fighting along side the armies of Islam who also had Jews and other Christians within their ranks.
Is that true?
I actually didn't know there were christians & jews fighting alongside the arab armies against other Crusader armies.

Here's some info I found about the movie....

Some press channels are focusing on the terrorist threats that plagued Heaven's production as well as outcries from Muslims who have denounced the film entirely; other media outlets are obsessed with the fact that Orlando Bloom had to wear a hair piece on his chest to appear more manly. Sigh ...

Naturally this project will be measured against Scott's Gladiator in so many ways (and it's worth nothing that Scott abandoned a prequel to his biggest success in order to make this picture). Fox execs will pull their hair out if Bloom fails, in his first solo attempt, to open big. But really is there any need to worry? By now we're so accustomed to his being in costumes that it'd be awkward to see him in anything but a period epic. And who can forget the success DreamWorks had in launching Gladiator during the same timeframe back in 2000.

He abandoned a prequel to Gladiator?!?!?!?! :x

Well, he better restart doing that prequel after Kingdom of Heaven!

As for the Christian, Jewish, Muslim in the medieval mid-east history........
Obviously if you were an Eastern Christian, or a Jew whose family have been living in the Mid-East for centuries. And the remaining pagan powers like Zoroastrians and the Cult of Mithra were ousted by the Islamic armies... and you were spared due to the fact the as Christian or as a Jew, you were fellow "people of the book" according to Islam, you'd fight along side your Mid-East brothers from the INVADING Crusader armies. Especially when these Crusader armies didn't respect the sanctity of the Eastern Churches and Synogogues (by ransacking them for loot), whereas the Arab Muslims who took over years before did.

Don't forget it was a so-called "Crusader Army" sent by the Doge of Venice that sacked Constantinople long before the Ottoman Turks conquered it. It was also another Crusader Army sent into Europe to wage war against the Cathar faith of Southern France, with the most famous siege taking place at the gigantic Castle Carcassone.

Wow, that must have been one awesome seige.....Carcassone is one of my favorite castles.

Speaking of Carcassone, were some of the castle scenes in Robin Hood: Prince of Theives filmed there? I remember some similarities of the castle towers in the movie & Carcassone.

I'm still thinking about how cool a prequel to Gladiator would be... :-(

Since it would totally different than the Gladiator style of fighting and etc, it would be one of the few sequels/prequels that could really seem fresh and cool... and be as good as the first!

Not for the crusades. I do not aprove of what they did, but I'll probably end up seeing it and roting on the occupents of yerushalim.
I approve of the reasons for starting the First Crusade, I just don't agree with how it was carried out in some respects.
Im sure there will be controversy surrounding this movie util it is released.

Although I don't really like Orlando Bloom at all :? , it looks like this will be a really cool movie.

This looks pretty promising...And coming from Ridley Scott, I'm sure this'll have some great action scenes, but naturally, Bloom'll probably fall in love with some woman through it all. Though I really hope that neither the Christians or the Muslims are shown as 'bad guys', for obvious reasons. But at least the movie has trebuchets in it. 8)

Errr... didn't you see that the trailer already showed Bloom's love interest is a princess?

Let him have a love interest in this big battle movie, all he had in the last one (LOTR) was Gimli.

Yeah, but didn't he have Keira Knightly in Pirates of the Caribbean? I'd say that makes up for Gimli.

>sigh< agreed...

Actually, I never had a problem with Bloom, although I never really was crazy about him either. But as was stated earlier, with all the sword/medevil movies he's doing these days, I'm actually starting to go from neutral to a fan.

Actually, the only problem I've got with Bloom was his decision to appear in "Troy". That movie was a discrace to the Iliad! Still, this movie looks interesting thus far.

And on the Riddly Scott thing, thank god he didn't do a sequal/prequal to Gladiator. The movie stands well enough on its own. Some movies just don't need a sequal, and this is one of them!

Later.

Bloom starred in Black Hawk Down... so not all the big-battle movies he's been on involves swords or muskets.

Yeah, Im becoming somewhat of a fan being that he stars in the types of movies I would audition for if I were an actor. Plus I wouldn't mind having Keira Knightley or Eva Green (KoH princess) as my female lead. :D *peers over shoulder to look at Ruthy.....*

I wonder what other Big Battle movie is coming up after PotC2 & 3, and KoH?...

Wrong Trojan - that was Eric Bana (and young Obi-Wan was in there, too).

But then again, it was impossible to tell anyone apart with the same equipment, same haircuts, and same hooo-yah, so he could have been hiding in there!

Nope, he was in there, in addition to the actors you mentioned.
I for one am getting awfully tired of Orlando Bloom. He was great in Lord of the Rings but I even began to get annoyed with Legolas by the time Return of the King hit theaters.
I'll probably end up seeing this movie, though I am not very much interested in the Crusades. The battles look promising, and Orlando Bloom doesn't look too much like an obnoxious pretty boy, as he does in all of his other films. I can't say that this movie will inspire any building, or even that I'll think much of it after the fact though.

Bana was there, but so was Bloom.....
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0265086/fullcredits
He played Todd Blackburn. I know my modern military things, which range from modern military movies, to real life weapons, to some of the in-development technology.

Athough when it comes to movies.... as much as I like modern military stuff.... I'd much rather see movies about the militaries back in the old days like knights, hoplites, samurais, or legionaires clashing swords, axes, spears, and etc. I think we already see enough of the modern stuff in the news. Not to mention that many non-major military related films have the idiot actors holding their guns incorrectly.
