Oldie but Goodie #18: Exterminate! EXTERMINATE!

Post by footsteps »

The best sci-fi series ever has returned! And thankfully it is being broadcast in Canada too (a week after the BBC airing). This is what a VCR is for!!

Before Star Wars...

before Star Trek...

there was...

The Doctor!

And he's back, just in Time!

Here are two sites that render Doctor Who in Lego:
http://www.blockaholic.com/dwpage.htm
http://www.dolphination.co.uk/LegoDrWho.html

And this one has a very fun little animated video with a corny punchline that any Whovian will appreciate.

Thanks for letting me indulge in another of my little passions.

Alan

PS If you want to learn more about the Doctor and the new series, may I recommend Outpost Gallifrey.

Hmmm. I confess I'm not a fan of either of these. The first ones, although looking very accurate (despite out-sized gun and eye stalk), require gluing, which is a bit taboo to me, an I'm-a-purist-but-I-need-to-use-stickers-to-save-money-and-occasionaly-paint-things kinda person. The second ones, despite looking more blocky, are much more build-able (and rather resemble my first and only attempt to build some Daleks of my own*!)

*Which shall never be seen.

Hey,

In my travels about the legoverse I've attempted at times to generate fairly comprehensive lists of links. I've abandoned this cause as it is continually out of date, but here are some Dr. Who links I know:

Cybermen and Dalek tank by Brian Cooper.
Dalek and Tardis by Earthman.
Dalek and Tardis by LegoAvon.
Dalek by Paul Baulch
Custom fig by Kelz Kustom
Figs by Sidrat
Tardis animation by Jason Railton
Tardis and Daleks by Allan Smith
figs and tardis by Buxton
Tardis by Erik Jensen
Tardis by Steven Locke
plus the three you cited.

Of these, my favorites are Brian Cooper's:

Inspired by your post, last night I was playing around with Dalek ideas that, sadly, now that I look back at the links, turned out a lot like Brian's.

Wow, Bruce, those are excellent links. Thanks! I hadn't realized that there were so many Doctor Who renditions out there. Adding them to my bookmarks!

This is my favourite K9 and this is the best TARDIS, though this has some interesting design elements that I like too.

As for the Daleks, I like both Brian's and this one - particularly as they are more at minifig size than some of the others - and the Cybermen are great (though I'm trying to think of ways to make them better!).
