Name change for the "Real Castles" forum

Post by Recluce »

While looking around the forum for a place to post a good reference site on medieval history I realized that the only place you had was the "Real Castles" forum, andit wasn;t very aptly named. Seems people have been posting in it for anything that deals with life in the middle ages and ancient history.... and not just the defensive structures of the nobles. So.... would it not be better to name it something more open, like "Real Medieval Life" or "Historical Discussions"? Or something else? Just a suggestion to you admins.... might even stir up some more conversations on medieval life and how it can be best represented in lego form.

Now I shall stand off to the side and wait for the stoning to begin. :D

Hey,

We've kicked around the idea of renaming the forum before, but it never reached critical mass. That said, any topic dealing with real medieval history (actual castles, discussions of authentic weaponry, "What's a gong farmer do, anyway?", pictures of Recluce in battle gear*, that sort of thing) finds its home in "Real Castles".

Bruce

*Just guessing here. Are you in any of these pics? I didn't see you in any of the ones where you can see faces, so I just picked a random one with lots of helmets and covered faces.

hehe, I am not in any of the combat pics, since I was the one taking the pictures.

Thanks for the info on the forum name, just wondered if I was doing right by posting in that forum, and also it might help newer users in posting to the correct forum.

Not a bad idea.

I believe I had once suggested the name be changed to "Medieval Life" since it tends to focus on all aspects of medieval live - not just castles.

That is a good idea. One of those all encompasing titles that still gives us a good idea as to what category we're looking at.

Wow... it's been "Real Castles" for so long, I might have some culture shock issues. :)

I have to agree, Medieval Life sounds SOO much better.... can we make this an official request? Mods, what do you think? I mean, its not like it take a lot of work to re-name it.... anyone else with me here?

Yep. :)

When I was just a wee new user, the "REAL Castles" forum always confused me. Even though I've grown out of that, it would still be a nice luxury to have a name like "Medieval Life."

It seems like most of the discussions in Real Castles are about arms and armor, names of boats and family crests. Medieval Life would be much better in my opinion.

Hello!

This whole web site is called Classic-Castle. But most of the talk around here in the forums is neither about Castles (but armies, weapons, heraldry, customization, carts, dragons, landscapes, fantasy, wizards, towers, windships, tudor-style houses, siege machines, minifigs, boats) nor is it about classic stuff (but wished-for-future-LEGO-Castles, Vikings, Knights' Kingdom Two, Knights' Kingdom One, Ninjas, Fright Knights, Dark Forest, Royal Knights, Dragon Masters).

Go figure! :-)

Bye

This is just the sort of nonsense up with which I will not put.

Actually, the best idea might be to have a REAL CASTLES forum so we can examine and discuss the architecture of real castles... this is a smart move because the way they were built can inspire the MOC-maker in all of us.

Then Medieval Life would serve to act as a forum for all the other "cool stuff". :)

There isn't currently enough interest in those two topics to merit seperate forums.

Name changes are fine by me, but I don't think we have the numbers to justify another forum.

Ahh... your right, that's probally true...

In that case, I would definately push for the "Medieval Life" name change with the others. "Real Castles" is fine, actually, but not as accurate.
