MOC: Henneth Annun (The Forbidden Pool)

Post by The Tennis Ball Kid »

Brickshelf link

Henneth Annun (the forbidden pool), from The Two Towers. Based on the description in the book, rather than the film.

Pictures will speak louder than words here, so I'll just leave with you one of my favorite Tolkien quotes:

"We look towards Numenor that was, and beyond to Elvenhome that is, and to that is which beyond Elvenhome and will ever be."

Always go to the source!

The sideways waterfall really makes it look, well, like a waterfall. The only improvement would be maybe some white or trans-clear around the bottom.

Grand Job!

Hey TBK,

Great MOC! The landscaping is very well done. I like how you did the SNOT on the waterfall, especially.

Are you entering this in the CCC?

Very nice! As others have mentioned, the SNOT waterfall is excellent. And the rest of you landscaping is very impressive as well. One question though, why is Gollum eating a penguin? :)

Superb job!

Looks nice, I have only one suggestion.... put some rocks sticking out the top of the waterfall area! Give it a real "white water" with a few grey stones peeking out to create some rapids. That will make it a little more realistic looking. Other than that... I think it looks awesome!

Good job, the landscaping is excellent and I aggree with Recluse, some rocks near the falls...and also white brick at the bottom of each drop for a more realistic foam/bubble look.

Great shot here:

Cheers.

I agree with the others - great SNOT work for the river/waterfall and I love the different levels. As already said some foam at the bottom would improve the look. I love how you incorporated the interior into the landscape and the concept of the removable section of wall to access them. I haven't seen that before (though admittedly I haven't been building that long!) I remembered these scenes from the book as soon as I saw the pictures, so you did a good job portraying them! I think my favorite part of the whole thing is the landscaping. Good job on this one!

Nothing really new to add here, but I wanted to at least say how much I like this MOC - this scene is not too long in the book or movie (and changed in the movie), but the waterfall area is perfect for creating a majestic MOC like the one you have here. The landscaping is, of course, excellent, and the tunneling you did underneath the earth is really done well. I like all of this - I can't imagine how long it took - the waterfall looks really well thought-out.

Great work ~

Amazing job!

I'm not even going to ask how many bricks went into making that. Great job on making it look realistic, all the greys and tans mold well together, it makes the cave entrance and area around it look real.

The only thing I would have added to this would be some foam or something to the bottom of the water fall.

BTW why is the pool forbidden?

A very fine MOC indeed! Love the landscaping (Cliffs, classic 'forest men-styled' trees and the sideways waterfall, very clever.)

Do´nt know about that pirate-torso for Frodo though...
