Fantasy or classic?
A better explaination...
Mine is mostly castle, however it is more in the 1600's time period due to some of the clothes and technology. It's a bit of a cross-genre of knights and men-at-arms and cavaliers and arqebusiers, so I'd say I'm a bit liberal.

fantasy
I'm more of a fantasy builder, but in a litle bit of a different way. I have fantasy races (dwaves, elves, goblins, orcs, etc.) but I don't use magic that much when I'm thinking about my world and planning it out. The closest thing I come to magic is steam-powered golems and goblin war machines.
Races are based on physical appearance and culture rather than magic useage. There are a small cabal of wizards, but they have dedicated themselves to figuring out why magic of the past no longer works.

Since you didn't specify any time period. I'll talk about my Ancients again!
I like to mix history, mythology, and some of my own imagination into my 25 factions or "kingdoms". Though some are so large they qualify more as an Empire than a mere kingdom.

I don't worry about a story too often, just trying to build things that look cool. However, when setting up a display, I'm adding trolls, skeletons, & zombies (mummies) without a second though. So I would say my medieval legoverse is fantasy. Sort of a LoTR type fantasy, Magic and non human races are around, but not over the top, Magic isn't running everything, normal people don't really have acces to it, etc.
Hmm, now that I think about it, I may have to make up some centuars and have them and some wookies roaming around the village. Should add some spice to the town.

Fantasy!
I've got to go with the Fantasy angle -- for me, it's a lot more fun to create a MOC that just would not have happened in the real world. Same goes with the Wizzards, Dragons and other nifty creatures.
I think the quote about most of mankind's history is: "life is nasty, brutish and short," if I remember right -- well, if my minifigs must suffer as such than at least they can majick up a few barrels of mead right before they are roasted by my undead armies arriving post haste on winged serpents. hey HEY!

Okay, I've just made drastic changes to my Ancients Theme. It now incorporates A LOT of Mythology. Complete with most factions/civilizations having at least 1 "Mythological Unit".
The MUs unlike the human soldiers will be very few in numbers compared to the massive droves of human minifigs.
There will be some who do come in relatively large numbers like Egyptian Mummies, Atlantean Automatons, Norse Dwarves, and Kahilawayan Asuwangs to name a few.
Taking the idea from Age of Mythology, I've added more Hero Units who are to specialize in fighting mythological units. Some come as individuals, others as groups who can cast away monsters, others are specially trained to fight MUs.
