Would you really want LOTR LEGOs?
I wouldn't mind seeing LOTR LEGO, why you ask? Well yes they've done some rather ill jobs with Castle lately, but look at the Starwars line. They really haven't done a bad job at all with it. Starwars also gave us some great figures (my personal favorite, luke head. Just a normal head with eye brows and not a smile, wish that would become the standard now)
So an LOTR theme would work well I'd imagine, though as another stated, they already sold off the rights. I think they past their prime anyway, the time to have done it would've been after the 1st movie and keep on going, but now that all 3 are done, its a little late.
As for the movies themselves, I loved them! Even though there could've been a great deal more, they were amazing for what they were. I have the whole DvD collection and I never buy movies so to me it was just a fantasy lovers dream to see such a movie made and made well.

Dreams are only unrealized realities.
LOTR lego?? I wouldn't like to see it.
Reasons being:
a) It would probably be very bad
b) I would rather see MOCs as it encourages more imagaination.
But I doubt it will ever happen anyway.
One question, if this topic is about LOTR lego, why is the poll "What do you think of the LOTR movies?"??
Jon.

Well said, and I concur entirely. I love both the books and the movies, and I would love to see LOTR Lego. But not because it's LOTR Lego, but rather because of the pieces it would introduce. I seriously doubt I'd keep it built as sets for very long, but it would, like all else, disolve into my collection. It would bring in awesome(I hope) helmets, swords, and a miriad of other most interesting pieces that could be most useful in other aspects of Castle than LOTR. However, this is all just mindless pondering, since Lego will never get(or even attempt to get) the to LOTR now.doctorsparkles wrote:I'm going to go against the popular opinion here and say that I would have liked to see a Lord of the Rings line. I don't build LOTR creations, but the parts that we would have gotten would have been awesome. My only concern would have been all of the LOTR specific pieces (I don't need any torsos with the tree of Minas Tirith on it, nor the white hand of Saruman, though I would have made due with that one).
As for the movies, I loved them. I also loved the books. I think the books and the movies just make eachother better. The movies left a few parts out that makes you wonder 'Wait a minute, why is this happening now?' (for example, where did the eagles come from?), so you read the book and it all makes sense. On the other hand, sometimes I had trouble visualizing what Tolkien was trying to convey, so the movies helped me out in that department. One helped me enjoy the other much more.

Excellent point. At first I was thinking that the heads produced for this line would probably be awesome, but in peach/flesh, they're useless to me.legoguy2 wrote:It would have more peach heads (do we really want more?)

I think the question should be... Do we want Hobbit LEGO?

All things considered I should have liked to have seen LOTR Legos.
First, Star Wars custom work has not been hurt by that line. I had thought originally that a LOTR line might stifle creativity. The main drawback would be that we would get stuck with "official" torsos and designs for each character. Could you imagine: "Your Aragorn is wrong, that's not what he looks like!"
Second, I would like to see what pieces would have been produced to support it. Now that could have been interesting! Weaons, armor, Gondor and Rohan devices...
I read where Lego would not license it because of the impression it might create that they were approving of the violence in the movies. The ratings scared them. Don't go there! I know HP has similar tones at times (#3 was really scary for my then 6 year-old), but its not as intense or as mature.
Well, we'll just have to settle for what we can make. Who's got the pieces for a full scale Minas Tirith?

In reply to a former statement, Lord of the Rings DID (Gasp!!) in a way inspire KK2. With all the medieval-type films coming out, it was only natural that Lego would try to profit. And where else would TLC get the idea of a swinging battering-ram with a dragon head and flames???
Sitting in a midnight glade
Firelight dancing off burnished blade
A Forestman sits
Wondering about the next day
But after three mugs of ale
Let it bring what it may.

The books and movies are great. LOTR LEGO's could never compare. I also agree that not having "official" torsos is better.

Heretic! Ban this poster from the forums at once! My computer floats like a duck now that I have read this! All seriuosness aside, they could have done way better had they tried to emulate fantasy stories. KK2 is a copy of Power Strangers (yeah thats right) and other rubbish.Commander Redbeard wrote:In reply to a former statement, Lord of the Rings DID (Gasp!!) in a way inspire KK2.
