Lego, please bring back the bow and quiver. Hear the plea of my starving minifigs who can't hunt any food without arrows. They're so hungry
Most hunters from ancient times as well as some from the middle ages threw spears 8)

We really need more quivers, once the pawns fire one shot, what are they supposed to do? Bludgeon their axe wielding enemies with their crossbows?
What about poachers? Whatever did Robin Hood use to take down his deer? What about the hunting parties with their crossbows? You shouldn't be giving TLG/TLC ideas like "let's give them spears instead" :P

Ranged weapons of ye old times;

Musket
Crossbow
Spear

Ask a kid this and they say:

With other words, we need bows. End of story. :)

Dear LEGO:

Vikings used bows. It wasn't considered unmanly. Please give the poor guys some bows so that they can shoot those dragons without getting singed.

Yes, Vikings had bows. I don’t think that they were famous for their archery, but the certainly had bows. I really wish that the Viking sets would have less fantasy weapons, less silly dragon action figures, and more sets with accurate design, good weaponry, and the charm of the good old sets! I would certainly begin to collect the theme then. Let's hope that the next Lego castle theme has the classic weapons.

They weren't famous for their archery.. but they're actually pretty famous for their bows.

Many leading historians believe that the infamous 'Welsh longbow' was simply a slight design change to an older 'Norse longbow.'

Vikings most certainly did use bows.

As for my opinion on bringing back bows.. to be honest I think it's more important to bring back swords that aren't lame prior to bringing back bows. But, ideally, I'd like to see both.

Come on LEGO.. you can even make the old LEGO swords in silly colours if you want to! We just want the old sword back. Even my 6-year-old nephew hates the "LEGO Power Ranger swords" as -he- calls them.

Put the old swords and bows back into the boxes and I'll keep buying KK2 even when the Pink Knight comes out.

Yes, Lego must bring back the classic sword, that's the priority! I dislike these 'power ranger' swords very much.

I didn't know that. Did the Norse longbow arrive to Wales with Vikings' raids or through trade?

The best I can give you is an educated guess --- knowing the Vikings, it was probably a combination of both.

Actually I never liked the lego bow, it just seemed so awkward with an arrow and a hard/immovable plastic string permanently attached to it. Also, it never looked realistic with a minifig holding it, no matter what position you put the bow, the minifig never looked like he was holding it correctly.

So, there are no archers in my collection... I think I threw most of the bows away, haha.

Anyways, I saw on Redbeans studio a pretty cool long bow, I am sure most of you know what I am talking about... I think if Lego decides to revive the bow, it should construct something close to the Redbean model - longer, and more realistic/playable

I actually kinda like the LEGO bow that they currently make... true... it's not the most realistic creation on the block, but I think the look and feel of it fits the LEGO Castle feel (to me), and goes along ok...

That's not to say that bigger longbows wouldn't be welcomed and appreciated... I'd love to see this addition to the arsenal - it is indeed a bit overdue.

Actually, they dont make bows- its been some years since they did.

Like most people, Im not the biggest fan of the stuck arrow, but if they revive it I dont have much to complain about either.

A tan bow would be nice among all these brown and black ones we have... :)

Oh yeah, there wasn't always crossbows. Seriously though, everyone here has a good point. The longbow was oone of the most influential weapons in history. Also, as stated before, even crossbow-men need quivers. One arrow just doesn't cut it. I am glad to see some more generic knights returning in the new 2006 line, I hope that in the future there will be even more, and that some of those will be long bow-men, with quivers.

The tan color might be nice, but IMO the new dark tan would be an even better choice.
