Re: Gizmodo Kingdoms 2011 Pics
These pics give some nice additional angles on these sets from what I'd seen before. BTW, I hadn't said this before, but the new chicken element really reminds me of the old style Fisher Price people (the round wooden ones, as opposed to the new molded plastic ones) farm chicken:

Actually I for one am glad it is just a facade on the prison. I really wanted the barding to come in a $20.00 set so I could get multiples. I love the Lion Knight's barding from Dragon Prison set last year. Unfortunately a $50.00 pricetage is just a bit much to collect many of them.OrangeBlooded31 wrote:The only set I'm not a big fan of is the Dragon's prison wall (?) The barding and new Knight is awesome, but I think we could have received a better design than a wall for the next Dragon building.
The way I look at this set is... it is a battlepack with an armored horse instead of one of the figures. Then throw in $5.00 worth of brick to top it off! In that light, I find this the best buy of all the sets. It is minifig rich with a low price per piece!
Re: Gizmodo Kingdoms 2011 Pics
Looks like a new plate/slope combo piece in front of the water wheel connected to the blue plate.
Re: Gizmodo Kingdoms 2011 Pics
Good catch username. It certainly is a new part.
I am just wondering what purpose they made the part for? I haven't noticed it in any other sets coming out.

That is a good point. I'm still coming out of my "dark ages" and need to start looking at sets more in that light.DaleDVM wrote: Actually I for one am glad it is just a facade on the prison. It was already stated on the nurnberg's topic two weeks ago, but nobody seems to have read others' contributions.DaleDVM wrote:Good catch username. It certainly is a new part.

The blacksmith will have at least 3-4 of this part, two under the roof top.
Those pics could have been submitted to the older post.Papy.G wrote:...
Blacksmith's water weel could have been achieved with car doors, while I must admit round browns are more generic. It could have driven a breathe to the forge, to change from the mechanical hammer already seen in the MMV. Also we can see a new? part with the 45° tile 2x1 with plate half.

Re: Gizmodo Kingdoms 2011 Pics
Sorry about that Pappy G. I do remember reading your comment but on the lower resolution pictures I couldn't figure out which piece you were talking about. My bad and a great find on your part.
This is the offending part in question.
Linky New Piece
It was also used on a car in one of the police city sets. However, neither of the uses I have seen of this piece are very imaginative. I think we will soon see a more useful implementation of this parts usefulness. As reviews of the 2011 sets come out we should get an answer. I can't imagine TLG making a new mold without a good use for the part.

Oh good! Moar links
Thanx Username!
Its nice to finally see the mini weapons on the blacksmith set in detail. im sure ill picking up a few of these to add some variety to my men-at-arms.
Also, although this is terribly trivial, its nice to see the POTC bottle piece getting into other 2011 sets. its such a cool and much needed piece IMHO.

That slope is also available in some of the new Atlantis sets, it's a lovely little part and could be very useful!

Re: Gizmodo Kingdoms 2011 Pics
Does anyone know if the king is getting a silver sword this time? The new pics make it look that way.
Re: Gizmodo Kingdoms 2011 Pics
According to Nabii, who designed the new slope piece, it was designed primarily for use with cockpit windshields. A realm of building I know very little about.
Obviously Nabii found a way to make a smooth roof with the piece as well as you can see if you follow Karrde's link. However, to get the nice smooth roof you really have to use a lot of parts. I'm not sure the look is worth it. On a small MOC it may be useful but my buildings are just too big to go through all those parts for what I consider a minor improvement.
I would imagine the piece will be used readily to add shape and dimesion to a lot of MOCs. Since it has the plate attached, perhaps more easily than the cheese slope piece.

i don't get the chicken pieces. in the medieval market place village all the birds are made out of bricks and they look great! why shift over to the pre made molds? I think they look cheap and out of place, more playmobil than lego style.
Re: Gizmodo Kingdoms 2011 Pics
I disagree. all Lego animals have a certain style that sets them apart. personally i thought the brick-built chickens were a sad joke in a menagerie of fantastic animalselondisc wrote:i don't get the chicken pieces. in the medieval market place village all the birds are made out of bricks and they look great! why shift over to the pre made molds? Papy is right. I just goes to show how often people acutally read the topics here. Since these Gizmodo pics are probably the images we'll find on the s@h website soon and really don't show anything we haven't seen before, this topic is getting merged with the NYToyfair thread.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

The same thing could be said for horses. Most people regard the molded horses as a success, but among my figures, they're a little bit out of place.elondisc wrote:i don't get the chicken pieces. in the medieval market place village all the birds are made out of bricks and they look great! why shift over to the pre made molds?
