Regardless of personal definitions...does this not answer the question?

Castle Customs
Discussion of custom parts made for the Castle Theme
(things that are made - such as painted, decaled, etc.)

As apposed to -
Castle MOCs
Discussion of personal LEGO Castle creations
(things that are created using castle elements)

And even better -
General LEGO
Discussion of general LEGO topics
(anything related to)

I'm just pointing it out. It really doesn't matter I suppose...but why poll such a question in the customs forum? Obviously, the majority of the people here are "non-purists" to some degree, or they wouldn't post about their custom stuff. Anywho...let the flogging continue!

To answer the poll in question - I'm definitely a "non-purist". Go figure.

As I already said: MY decision is to leave it here. I feel it fits in better. If a senior admin wishes to change it, they're free and welcome to do so. Until that point, my decision stands. And, to be honest... it really doesn't matter to me one way or another. Use of clones may not fit under the LETTER of the Custom forum's mandate, but it seems to me to fit under the SPIRIT of the mandate.

Anyway...

If it matters, I'm a purist in this matter (no clones), but hardly in the matter foremost in people's minds.

I agree. The topic may not fit perfectly, but it fits better than anywhere else and it has generated quite a bit of discussion.

One thing I find funny, is the number of comments about how odd it is that 'purists' are reading a topic in Customs. I try and read all the topics, even if they cover something I'm not very interested in as the information gleaned may be useful sometime. I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one and I used to be a non-customizer.

Well, define non-purist:

Purist: Someone who uses only lego's molds.

Non-purist: Someone who uses only lego made molds up to the point of accepting for sale customs made by lego enthusiasts for lego purposes.

Non-purist: someone who will use lego, and the occasianal clone

Non-purist: Someone who does not care what they build with.

I should soon be the first non-purist defenition.

As of now, I am a purist
I ow it to wunztwice for directing me here.

I'm a purist, but I read these boards. I think what y'all do is cool, I just don't do it myself. There's a difference between being a purist and despising all plastic toys not made by TLG.

The subject at hand is not is not about customs - it should be moved or locked. I think moving it is preferable, but it ain't up to me.

For me, I fall with others. I'm not abject to using a custom piece I get from Little Armory (or when I get around to buying some of the nifty custom helmets I see here) or the like, but would never, ever, considering altering, cutting, or painting an existing element. I don't even do custom decals for things...
