The name bristle blocks sounded familiar, but it wasn't until I clicked on the link that I remembered what they looked like.

...

I'm glad I haven't had some of the problems you guys do.

I've never dropped a MOC, but I did accidentally destroy a Dark Forest Fortress with my a.. um, butt.

I also don't get complaints from family. In fact, my wife bought me Green Grocer for Christmas. She also bought me two pirate sets and town minifigs last week.

Things that annoy me:

* people who brag about how much lego their spouse buys for them :)

* friends growing up who stole my minifigs

* realizing that throwing away the boxes of my old lego sets hurt their resale value. (as did the stolen minifigs)

* realizing that selling my old lego was a bad idea

* when my wife drops a bin of minifig utensils into a cup of hot chocolate

* driving to a garage sale advertising "LEGO's" and only finding Megabloks or Duplo

* sorting out a bin of lego from a garage sale and finding odd plastic beads shoved into the bottom of many bricks

* buying two awesome buckets of lego at a garage sale and being told that somebody bought the third bucket 10 minutes ago

* seeing a "wanted to buy" ad for lego in the newspaper, and wishing I had the guts to do the same thing when I thought of it two years earlier

* knowing that any used set I buy to replace the lego I sold will never be in as good a condition as what I once had

* people on bricklink who keep lowering their price below mine on an expensive part and have thousands of that part in stock so I cannot wait for them to just run out ( I had a good thing going with the educational ghost and skeleton pack until *name withheld* kept under-cutting me on the ghosts)

* people on ebay who do not honestly and accurately describe what they are selling

* not having enough room to fully enjoy my hobby

* Lego sets that are only available in other countries

* friends who collect Megabloks and tell me it's better than Lego

BTW, I enjoy sorting. It's a nice relaxing activity, especially while listening to Therion or something else that's awesome.

There are actually adults who do this? While I wouldn't do it, I can see why someone might want bulk bricks at a cheaper cost, or kids who were into those tins of knights they had, but adult hobbyists? Weird.

LOL. Don't you just hate it when that happens? Not a week goes by without my wife dropping some sort of LEGO in my hot chocolate. :P

 I think I may have to remain a bachelor...

Anyway, my pet annoyances:

- Other people putting the wrong stuff into the wrong boxes because they haven't bothered to ask me where it goes

- Other people who, when I get a new set, can't understand why I'd rather build MoCs with its parts than build the official set

- Torso patterns that are flaking/faded

- The lack of time to build and create

- The lack of bows in Castle sets

- Having to keep Lego secret from everyone outside my family

- The colour change (just for old times' sake  )

One thing I hate is the term "POOP" (Piece with Only One Purpose). There's no such thing, at all. If you can't think of something else to do with the piece, that would be your fault, not some plastic brick's.

I agree with so many of these... I can't believe we got to page seven and noone mentioned this scenario:

*Why is it that this darn brick won't click into place... so you adjust it, and wiggle it, and push harder and harder and... BOOM! A splosion happens! and blood and guts and spit and plastic are all over the place!

*the lighting in the room is making it almost impossible to tell the difference between your old and new light grey

*you build a large castle MOC only to realise it is two inches too big to get it out of any door in the entire house

*digging through the dust in the shop-vac for that piece it just sucked up off of the floor. Only to find out it just sounded like lego... it was a pebble

*you transport a MOC to a convention and some of those support structure pieces in the hollow part of your MOC come loose. You can hear them bouncing around in there, but there is no way to get in and fix them without taking the whole thing apart

This doesn't last too long. At my age I just don't care what they think. To promote BrickFest, later this month I'll have a local morning coffee klastch type show coming in and filming my house. But when I was 17, I would have been mortified to do that.

I thought POOP stood for Piece Out of Other Piece?

I don't keep it a secret -- I just don't tell anyone who I feel is so small-minded that they won't understand that this hobby is creative and mentally stimulating. Until I get a handle on the person, I just say my hobby is model building.

Very close, Richard. Its Piece Of Other Pieces, I believe. I'd look it up on Lugnet's glossary to be sure, but its blocked here at work.

@Doodstormer - Its any piece that could have been made with existing pieces instead of creating a new mold. The LURPs and BURPs are a good example. It has nothing to do with a single use. Though the thought or attitude that certain pieces only have one use is an irritation of mine as well.

Not sure if people have mentioned this or not:

The dreaded domino effect - after carefully lining up the minifigs in battle formation, either to take pictures or just for fun, you accidentally tip one fig over... then things start falling and complete chaos ensue.

When Lego makes all these great colors (dark blue, dark green, dark tan, dark brown, purple, sand blue, lime green, orange, magenta, sand green, turquoise, etc.), but then also gives up absolute crap for part selection in those colors.

This really was irritating me tonight, when I was hoping to do some stuff in one of those colors...
