Hey all,

Stapelaar is one of the very few builders who do real building at Belville scale. This is hugely brick intensive but allows for an amazing level of structural detail. Anyway, right now he's working on a Victorian house:



Be sure to look closely at the pics to see some great techniques.

Belville scale? So it is going to be a Belville creation, I have never seen anyone make a Belville scale thing. But it is still cool.

That thing is sweet! And clean! And big!

That arch is so pretty. Wish I had that much LEGO.

I really like this scale, as it allows for so much more intricate detail, unatainable in minifig scale. However the peice-count for something like this is also unatainable for many of us.

The roof-edge is one of the most inpressive things about this creation, but to leave it at that would be to do this house an incredible injustice. And the fact that it is being built from top to bottom is also an amazing feat. Simply incredible!

Wow the amount of detail is really incredible.

What I don't understand is why he's building top-down?

I like the different theme elements that work themselves seamlessly into the structure. Top down hmmm? I suppose that's another way of looking at things. Seems to work well enough. I think the roof work and support for it may have made that approach necessary.

Really cool. The only things that I don't think work are the lower windows built with transparent 1x2's, and the fact that the color pallette seems to be getting a little bit out of control. The arch though, is amazing. I also see a lot of very interesting and unique piece usages.

On a personal note; everything I have built since I came out of my dark ages (just over a year ago) was built top-down. See this thread. I can't say why exactly, but the only MOC I tried to build up from the bottom turned out awful.

That's indeed the reason why building downward.

I think you'r right. But even with my huge amount of legobricks, I simply don't have enough dark red 1x2 bricks.
