6081 plus

Post by Aliencat »

One of my all time favourite castles is 6081, for its great layout, but I always thought it's a bit on the small side. So I made a bigger version :)

I wanted to stay true to the original model, but still add lots of little details so it doesn't end up looking like a 2x scale model.

6081 was one oy my favorites as well. What an awesome job in keeping with the original structure - on a more grand/detailed level.

I noticed the princess, you have to add the ghost! :D

Cheers.

Nice job.

I think that Dan G. also did something similar a few years back.

Looking at both your model and his, I think that this would be a great idea for a contest. I'd love to see other sets supersized! The whole thing comes off as very impressive, considering that you can compare your work directly with the LEGO original.

Good work.

Well I'm working on more supersized classic Lego castles, I just started 6074 and 6086 is next on my list :)

WOW! I love the details! Amazing castle! I can hardly beleive all these great castles over and over. O_O

Soon I'm going to become like the rest of you- so used to seeing great castles every day that you become sort of hard-to-please. =P j/k

But seriously there's so many great castles on here, I'm starting to feel less impressed when I see a LEGO castle than before I joined C-C. lol

Once again, a great MOC and very true to the original.
Coming soon!

I kid you not, the above statement is truer than you think.

Hard to please as we AFOLS may be, AC's done a great job of doing just that. ;)

I had the privilege to see this castle in a WIP state and I was extremely impressed at the time, now only a few days later seeing it in it's completed stage I am totally astounded. Great Layout. Excellent Homage to 6081.

My favorite aspect of this MOC is still the Forestmen's hide-out located on the back side of the castle. But there's tons of details that are to die for all over the place. It's near impractical for me to list 'em because there are so many. The architecture and detailing of the castle itself are very good the way it all fits together is totally unique to compared to soo many castles out there.

Great MOC AC. :)

A truely awesome mod Alien Cat. Your work here has made me appriciate the original set. It always bothered me how little room there was for playing in the original , and you've made it a very playable design. I hope the set designers see how awesome your efforts are.

Very nice! I love the overall look. Very eye-catching. Thanks for sharing!

I love how you made the baseplate out of rocks. A very good idea, and I like the way it turned out. The addition of the river and small landscape scene is very nice.

The design of the castle itself is great. I love how you added the little scenes inside the open area. I really like the idea with the little storage area. Very nice idea. I like the part next to the gate. It turned out quite nicely. The back tower is nicely constructed. One thing that I personally don't really like are the tan parts. I dunno why, just a personal thing.

A very nice MOC, with tons of details and lots of minifig activity.

Ah, that touching up of the river and beach really helped! ;)

The castle in itself looks excellent, I especially like your use of arches to keep the walls interesting. I also love how you actually made a hole inside the courtyard (and made it look useful too), everything in keeping with the original ;)

I like it! Has a very mediaeval life feel with all the bustle and activity going on! The rock-face base is nice, as is the detail on the gatehouse and tower.

I too found that head an appropriate choice for the princess - the pirate wench head doesn't cut it for that role IMO!

Thanks for all the compliments guys.
Yeah supersizing original sets is so much fun, if you have the parts you should really give it a try!
