Legolas Greenleaf

Post by armothe »

Hailing from Mirkwood, Legolas is actually a Sindar Elf from Lindon and son of the Elvenking, Thranduil.

This is one I've been wanting to make for a long time.
Thanks to RecluceMage for providing the custom hairpiece.
Perhaps I'll take a crack at my other unfinished Tolkien ilk.

:D Awesome decal, though I don't get why EVERYONE uses tan/blonde Qui-Gon hair. I also noticed a new longbow, this one has little bumps on it.
Yes, I use to many smilies. Who Cares!

Wow. Very nice; I first thought it was a rendering the lighting, the print job, and the beauty is so perfect!

Very nice, armothe, very nice. When I first watched the movies, Legolas was my favorite character. Love it.

Awesome work Armothe! Your fig resembles the movie's interpretation perfectly. I actually like the flesh tone choice even though I'm anti-fleshie. I like the bow although I don't know if it goes well with this fig. The green on the front of his vest resembles the clasp from the movie that is given to the fellowship. I also like how the white under clothing looks as if it would be the same clothing as in the scene where he laments for Gandalf in Lorien. To me the 3D effect that the torso has looks too good to be paper if that makes any sense. Great work once again.

A,

I was going to say how well the clothing you made for him looks but Quickblade22 mentioned most of it. I as well think the skin tone is good but if I were to make him he'd be yellow to match the other lego men I think.

Good work!

Thanks guys! I too prefer yellow, but I am following LEGO canon at this point. Movie characters portrayed by specific actors/actresses should have flesh-tones. If these were renditions based on the epic they would be yellow.

I really like the Qui-Gon hairpiece for this character. Honestly, I can't think of any other hair that would work better and I wanted to put the piece I received from RecluceMage to good use.

The traditional bow and BF Longbow simply didn't look 'fantasy' enough so I found another one I liked.

Though I'm rather more pro-yellow than I am a fan of fleshtones, I have to say that the use of flesh on this fig works well. Mainly, I'm inclined to like it simply because Legolas is an elf, and the use of fleshies for Elves as contrasted with "normal" figs for humans is not unprecedented in people's MOCs around here, and I rather like the effect.

It also really sets off the blond hair.

This is definitely the most exquisitely-crafted Legolas I've seen created in Lego. The head choice along with the nice paint job on the hair is perfect. Truly an excellent fig. Great work!

Excellent job. I really like that bow, and the tunic is made of pure awesome. Is the hairpiece a little translucent?

Very nice indeed. Will the new longbow be made available to the rest of us down the road? Did you paint the Qui-gon hair? If so, very well done; if not, what set is it in? What is the "overcoat" made of? I would guess paper with the sticker printed on. Nicely done.

The hair is custom mold peice made by RecluceMage, as stated in Armothe's original post.

The bow is MegaBlocks, also stated in the Flickr image comments.
