Country Blacksmith

Post by kelderic »

Greetings! For a year and a half, I have been working on this, little by little, when I could find time and afford pieces. However, I believe it is finally finished.

The County Blacksmith, a shop and forge, with a home on the second floor. At the moment, a merchant is buying some swords, with a couple guards to ward off any thieves who might be watching. (hint hint ;) )

If you are interested in house the building was contructed, the builders were kind enough to pose for snapshots during construction.

Very nice! 8)

I like the beer-barrel post - that's unique. Have you considered using cheese slopes to fill in the gaps under the roofline?

It is very nice. Is there more inside shots? The terrain and building all look great and the fact the men are building it in the scenes is a very good touch.

Nice new thatch technique. The column made of barrels is also nice, but the effect is hurt by also using barrels as barrels a few studs over.

The first ten construction pics looks a lot like the start movie of Caesar 3 by Impression. Oh and A Very Great Moc.

Everything about this MOC seems to fit very well together. I really enjoyed the design of the house, and those trees were very well put together. The MOC in general seems rather life-like. Nicely done...

That's awsome. Like others have said, love the way you built the roof.

This is really quite fantastic. The roof is particularly great, but there's a lot of other great details as well (for some reason the arch from the house to the neat barrel pillars is particularly interesting to me. I'm not really sure why... I just like it).

So yeah. Blogged on the TFOL blog... here's hoping you are a teen. >_>

Wow thats a lot of yellow "levers," love the roof!
I also liked the construction pics, but where is the second tree? At first I thought the stacked bamboo shoots in the first pic were supposed to be the tree as a sapling. When I looked again its not in the right position, so I guess not.
Great MOC!

Thank you all for your kind words. :)

I hadn't until now, good idea.

Not at the moment, but I'll remedy that when I get around to getting new batteries for my camera.

I noticed that after I saw you mention it. Bad placement, since they could have been put anywhere. I probably could have just left them out, actually, but I have gotten addicted to barrels.

I am indeed, for another 10 months. Nice blog, btw.

Indeed, you have spotted a screw-up on my part. When I first took the construction pics as I was putting it together, I only had one tree, and later added the second because it didn't seem balanced. However, to go back and fix the first pictures would have required way too much work, and I'm lazy. :D

Wow. I am impressed. I like everything about it. Especially the "building process". As I am a bit of a hobby-blacksmith myself, I find this moc very facinating. I like how the blacksmith examines his new anvil. And that you have a quenching bucket for hardening the blades.
The struggle to get the bed to the top floor was funny. :)

TOP NOTCH! :D

My highlights:

- the uses of barrels are great

- the roof is truly innovative! must have taken a while finding all those yellow levers, but it's perfect for representing a straw roof

- even the cart is really nice

- the building-process shown as done by the minifigs = brilliant 8)

Ooh, very very nice, kelderic. Great details. The house is great, but the landscaping makes it seem alive, which really helps.
