contest proposal

Post by timber_wolf899 »

Given the interest in my mid-sized castle thread I began considering an idea for the following contest.

Master of the 400!

Goal: to construct a fully walled castle along the lines of 6073, 6074, and 6081.
to see if we at CCC can do what the designers of th emid 80's did
to see if we can do it better
to demonstrait the interest in such sets to TLG
to have fun building castles DUH : )

Rules; Castle must be fully enclosed.
Castle should contain 380-400 parts
Minifig count should be 6-8

Other than that there are no rules!

Prizes and judging........I'll leave this open for now in case an admin would like to step in. Otherwise I will handle.

if interested plz respond!
thoughts?

Sounds like a very good idea. If you want castles or the likes you may need to define what exactly that means as well so people do not hound you about technicalities. You may need to raise it a few pieces as well or not include minifigs in the total count as most the mid sized castles are just over 400, Knights is 410 and BF 430, King's Mountain Fortress 435. Maybe Just 350-450? I don't know but some things to think of.

Sounds like an interesting challenge. Do you think it needs to be done as a contest though?

The contest part of the idea was just a way to light the perverbial fire under people.

hum good point hair.......how about something like...

A castle is defined as a four walled structure with at least one open area fully inclosed within?

This would exclude such structures as the forestman's river fortress, which is more of a tower than a castle.

I'm up for this and will definitely build an entry if this contest takes off :)

I probably won't take part (other issues) BUT I think this is a good contest idea. Perhaps if you set the limit at 400 pcs PLUS 6-8 figs (as defined as legs, torso, arms, hands, head, headgear - anything else fig-ish goes to the pc count). I would certainly enjoy seeing the fruits of these labours.
