AFOL survey

Post by Bruce N H »

Hey all,

Some grad students from IIT Institute of Design are doing a project on the AFOL community. They contacted me and asked me to fill out a short survey. I told them I'd post the link here so others might see it.
Here ya go.
I'm not vouching for these people in any way, but there's no private questions (well, there is one question on income level, but they have an option for decline to state) and you can choose whether or not to give your e-mail for follow-up questions.

Any information on the purpose of this survey, Bruce?

They sort of lost some credibility when they said: "AFOL stands for Adult Followers of Legos". Got the acronym incorrect, and said "Legos" in the same sentence!

I filled out the survey, but I would have preferred some additional information, such as a link to the institute, a project information page, or even an email address.

Hey,

No, I don't have information about their project, but I did confirm they were grad students, so I'm pretty sure this is just a student project. Their questions indicate that they are outside the community, as in their mistake on AFOL and also things like not including Bricklink as a specific option in the "where do you buy LEGO" question.

Answered.

Made it a point to reference bricklink, brickshelf, and classic-castle whenever appropriate.

I actually liked that survey - it was well done and asked some great questions that (in my opinion) the LEGO survey we recently had here on CC should have had - I thought that these questions were illuminating in both what brought AFOLs to the little plastic brick, and kept them there~
