Lava Dragon

Post by Siercon and Coral »

The flaming knight and his fire salamander live in the boiling lava pits of Myrth. Unlike many dragons salamanders are wise and have softer scales which burn like embers. The flaming knights are among the few rare humans who can survive the harsh environment and have learned from the fire salamanders.

This was made for the third round of the LEGO NPU contest in which we were required to use the mudguard pieces. There's 8 in this picture :)

:o :twitch:  WOW! That is just...WOW. There are no words I can think of to describe it...Just...WOW!

Oh yeah, do you mean Midgaard?

Edit: My bad, I see what you mean by mudguard.
Also, I thought of a word. EPIC.

Nicely done - I think the helmet/shield combination on the knight is an especially nice touch.

These boards are so dead in the summer and yet I almost missed this gem of a MOC. I don't think there's much to say here; this is absolutely incredible. The brilliant part usage is out of this world. I can't compliment you enough. It's good to see that there are still some brilliant builders around these parts for us to aspire to. Keep it up!

This is truly amazing. The NPU just doesn't stop at the mudgaurds.
Very beautifully done. This would look stunning in a blacklight setting.

Hey guys,

This is a beauty, and photographing it against black is really striking. I think it would be cool to photograph this with other lighting effects, like maybe a red light.

The dragon is incredible! I like the use of the samurai armor with the helmet on the knight. What torso is that?

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! We've found the Lego community to awesome and Steph and I have enjoyed being apart of it a ton, especially here at CC!

Unfortunately he is fragile and mainly acts as a display and doesnt have the playability his fellow MOC monsters in our house do.

Early or late it's still an honor and we're blessed :D Thanks a ton!

Thanks! And true people have mentioned various lighting, and as i am no expert I can mearly tell you what didnt work. For some odd reason (and yes i could figure out the science but will refrain) red didnt work well. Perhaps red would work better for an underlit version... Blue actually worked fairly well, and a black light seemed to not give it enough light to not require a flash. Anyways We will continue to experiment with various lightings and appreciate everyone's ideas!

The torso is from the rebel starwars X-wing pilot... :cough: I mean it's from some hyper rare castle promo set which never existed. Anyways i figured since no one would ever ask or see it through the breastplate I would be able to keep it a secret. So now its just between me an you ;)

Thanks again everyone!

Don't worry I won't tell a soul  , I just wondered because of the unusual color.
