...your local Walmart for clearances.
Last week I found Monster Fighters on clearance..woot!
But today..I found a really nice healthy stack of Mirkwood on clearance...oh yes I pounced.
Having said that, please note that my Walmart rarely has LEGO on clearance. And what I understand about Walmart's is that it is up to the individual stores about what they put on clearance.

Re: You might want to check...
Mirkwoods! Were they 30% off? My Wal-Mart clearanced Monster Fighters months ago but still nothing on Hobbit or LOTR stuff. SURELY those Uruk-hai army sets that are collecting dust now will get marked down soon....
Toilet paper goes over not under.
Re: You might want to check...
A local Wal-mart had the Riddle of the Ring, Uruk Army, Wargs, Bag End, some SW & MF sets about 30% off.

Re: You might want to check...
Good luck hoping the Uruk-hai go on clearance. My Walmart still hadn't cleared out the Black Pearl sets they have in abundance...
Re: You might want to check...
Thanks Blue. I can't believe they still haven't started carrying the new wave two months after its release.
IF they ever clearance those Pearls, would you let me know? I came back to LEGO as that theme was on its way out and that's a lovely ship.
Username, where in Texas is that? I'm near the DFW metroplex and might be willing to drive a bit for that.

Re: You might want to check...
I went by a Walmart last night while I was out. I had planned on posting my findings, but you beat me to it!
I picked up the following.
1x Goblin King - $69.00 (This really was my price point, anything more would have been a no)
1x Sith Class Fury Interceptor - $49.00
1x Gungan Sub - $40.00
They also had the following -
Attack of the Wargs - $35.00
Mirkwood Spider Elf set - $21.00
Moria - $54.00
Uruk Hai Attack was marked red for clearance, but was full price. It is to my understanding Walmart does this when they price won't be dropping but they won't receive any more in stock.
There were other sets on clearance but they weren't castle related including the city mine for $69.00 and all the Star Wars battle packs and planets.
I would also say that my Target has a lot of clearance. I have bought 2 Morias for $54.00 from them, and also bought 5 different Mirkwood Elf sets for $21.00
I am considering buying around 5 Mirkwood Elf sets for $21.00 for another CC draft in the future.

Re: You might want to check...
That was the only set I found today on clearance and I checked everywhere. I guess I got lucky today.
Yes, I pounced. I was tempted to get more but I have to buy tires...like real tires for my actual car...not LEGO tires and them are spendy! (Over $460 for all 4)

Re: You might want to check...
That is indeed a great find, I'll have to check my local Walmart for any clearance sets. Yes tires are expensive, but $460 for all four is not bad at all. Tractor tires cost about double that each, and combine tires are several grand eachBluesecrets wrote:That was the only set I found today on clearance and I checked everywhere. Re: You might want to check...
Wow! Thanks for the tip! I'm definitely going to be swinging through Wal-Mart on the way home tonight. Sschmidt, if I can score a bunch for $15, I'll let you know, for draft purposes

Re: You might want to check...
I just noticed that several sets are on sale online at Walmart too. If you can't get to a Walmart, that might be worth looking into too.
Re: You might want to check...
4 WalMarts and 3 Targets later... $21 Uruks and Mirkwoods, $35 Warg Attack, 3 boxes of $3 poly bags, a ton of S9 figs for $2 and $50 Bagends all at the last WalMart. I think it's safe to say Im not going to the Lego store this weekend after all.

Nice find on the bag ends!
I'm at Another Walmart near me and its slim pickings.
I was only able to find three Helms Deep for $89.00 each. I bought all 3.
