Modular Lego Castles

I recently designed a new modular castle system that I would like to get some feedback on. It is based on small modules, 4x8 and 8x8 studs. A system of Lego Technic pins and exposed studs hold the modules together. I tested it out with tons of kids at Brickcon in Seattle. They seemed to really like it. Each module can be connected to any other module to provide a great deal of flexibility so that you can very quickly and easily construct a new castle from the small modules. it is very sturdy and the modules remain intact when pulled apart to change the castle configuration. It was designed for kids and incorporates large arches in the modules to make room for minifigs and lots of open battlement space for a play area.

I have some pictures of the modules on MOCPages as well as many examples of both large and small castles that can be built with this system.

There are also some pictures on flickr

I also have put together a few short videos showing how quickly and easily the modules go together to make a castle.

I have submitted it to Lego Ideas as a set for them to make. You can find it by searching for
"Kingdoms Modular Castle" or find it at

If you like this modular castle system please vote for it on Lego Ideas and pass this on to your friends. Thanks for taking a look.

This may be the best modular castle system I've ever seen! it looks like it would be a blast to play with, and I'm very impressed by the amount of different modules you've created :)

This is very good. I wonder a bit about how sturdy it is when there's overhang, but I like the system you've worked out for connecting multiple levels. I bet, in a collaborative display, the varying build styles will look a lot like a castle that's been built and rebuilt over the years. It would also, with some tweaking, work well for an underground/tunnel complex type structure.

Thanks for sharing!

Very cool! This is similar to some modular ships I have seen around, but with the perfect twist. This could be very useful in making large castles that were transportable. Well done!

I saw this at Brickcon and found it quite interesting. Really amazing how you designed so many modules, and made them look good to. really quite an interesting concept all around.
